Just a strange observation ... even if I'm still undecided on the DSI, this looks like a CFT ???

I don't think so. The bump was there on the land based version as well... that being said they could be fuel tanks. But CFT? Probably not.

The JL-9H was reported months ago... the only significant thing is that now we have photographic proof that it's at least flown, and they seemed to have changed bits and bobs.

They even seemed to have stuck with the paint scheme from the picture we first saw of the JL-9H.

Hmmm ... but on the land based version there's clearly not a bulge, it's simply because of the light/shaddow around the rear fuselage ... whereas - and I admit, I'm not sure - it looks like one.

Hmm you're right. Checking photos from other angles the land based JL-9 doesn't have the "bulge".

That JL-9H could very well have CFT, it certainly looks like the right spot to put them. Or they could just be fuel tanks and not necessarily "conformal".

Re: JL-15 and other trainers

I don't see it, it should extend quite a bit past the intake inlet, it's not small on the JL-9. I can't see any hint of it on either photo.

At that angle (first picture), the plate looks to be just slightly further than the inlet lip. You should be able to just make out the slight light reflection from the front edge of the plate.
