By the way - latest on Uruguay A-37 replacement is that the L-15 (unknown variant/configuration) the Leonardo 346 are still in the running and the Uruguayan Air Force sent a delegation to Chechia to see the L-39NG and L-159 up close.
When do you think they will make a decision? I feel that the Ukraine situation has made the L-15 less attractive...

If Uruguay is still considering the Leonardo and Aero offerings then they are almost certainly looking at the subsonic L-15 rather than the afterburning variant.

Last I heard about it was still 2014. This is one marathon of a deal.

If they want a single engine trainer the South Korean T-50 would be a much better option than the L-39NG.

Uruguay is mirroring it's northern neighbour, Brazil, in their foreign policy and are currently with a right-wing but America-skeptical perspective. This means trying to broaden their dependency on Western weapon systems, and while the Korean T-50/FA-50 are proven and capable supersonic trainers and light attack aircraft, they are heavily reliant on American and European parts (also kind of expensive). I think the consideration of Chinese, Russian and Czech aircraft is a conscious decision by the Uruguay government to not get something sourced indirectly from the US.
