Thanks once again sumdud. On another forum somebodt suggested the bomb behind the rocket launcher could be a FAE (thermobaric) bomb ... ?

Also, a Pakistan site says the K-8 will carry external tanks only on the inside pylons. Could it be that what is on that aircraft is a reconnaissance pod?

　　据介绍，K8E飞机是由中国航空技术进出口总公司、洪都航空工业集团公司与埃方合作生产的项目，较好地继承了国产K8教练机的优良特性，且通信、装配、座舱布局和飞行员操作等性能有较大提升。

　　首架改装国产EFIS的K8E飞机为中埃第二次合作生产的40架K8E飞机中的第9架。作为主要负责显示飞行信息的系统，此前K8E飞机装配的 EFIS均为进口产品，但其显示信息简单，故障率高，且配套困难。国产EFIS改装是K8E飞机的一次重大技术状态更改，关系到中埃第二次合作生产的40 架K8E飞机的顺利进行。

　　为此，洪都集团公司、中航技公司与西安北方光电有限公司共同开发了国产EFIS。它在系统功能、人机操作界面和显示画面质量上都远远优于进口产品。

basically, it says that starting from 9th K-8 in the second batch of 40 K-8E being co-produced in Egypt, the Electronic Flight Instrument System on K-8E is now using Chinese made one. It's developed by Xi'an Institute of Electronics Technology. It's system capability, MMI and display is far superior to imported product.

L-15 is strictly a carrierborne trainer for it to be too expense for other training purpose, where as JL-9 will take over most other training?

Zimbabwean K-8 at Africa Aerospace & Defence 2006 (20-24th September 2006)in South Africa where report say they put on a "well polished display".

Not, the AFZ Hawks Mk 60s have a different cammo, serialed 7XX and have a light at th tip on the nose.

according to what Huitong posted here, the first JL-9 production version has been delivered to PLA
