True but for all intents and purposes all you need is a mission kill on the minimum.

And totoro regardless what the real ranges are you can expect some serious range from heavy weight torpedos.

Trust me on this. All torpedos sometimes do come short on there range.. That is, they some times never make the full run. Of course this is done in actual test where the torpedo will be retrived.

I believe Crobato has already conceded that all military specifications are either overstated (most common on marketed systems) or understated (generally for more sensitive systems) but he's made the point that you can still expect those military systems to perform to their specs to some degree.

Imagine this as a computer benchmark; in ideal situations, your computer will match the speeds touted by the manufacturer but during normal situations, those computers will still match most of their advertised performance rather than just being slow, archaic systems.

the "Jin" class drawing looks very different from the actual photos of Jin class.

Re: Chinese sub thread

This is a CCTV7 broadcast of a SLBM launch. No idea which platform launched this or whether this is JL-1 or 2. Not much to see really. There were more pictures, but they all looked the same.

some pictures of 092 from the same CCTV7 broadcast. Not showing much really other than the sail, but still more picture than we had before, lol.

If this is recent, then it looks like the 092 is out of her refit.

I'll be very surprised if the 092 actually launched JL-2s. Those big missiles would have required big changes in the missile compartment.

Re: Chinese sub thread

The SLBM apparently wasn't the focus of the CCTV film clip, but more like an extra. Apparently they were congratulating a professor and admiral named Chuan Hu, who recently was awarded for his contributions in submarine warfare. He led the development of things like submarine simulation combat software, systems combat software and sonar acoustics software, among many other things. The segment showed different PLAN submarines in all the years.

Re: Chinese sub thread

Recently, I have read some articles mentioning the US for the first time is sending its "SeaWolf" SSN subs and visit South Korea. I think this is potential threat to PLAN's new SSN like 093 and 094.
I am not too familiar /w submarine warfares. I know the SeaWolf has substantial advantage over 093 and 094 but if those PLAN subs stay close enough in the littoral waters, would that neutralize the advanatge of "SeaWolf"?
Also in the real warfares, if the Seawolf hunt down one of those PLAN SSN and blew it up, would that contaminate the ocean /w radioactive materials residue and fallout?
