The Google Earth view of Beijing National Stadium shows them doing the foundation.
This photograph is from July 2006. I estimate there is at least 2 years separating the two. So the Google Earth view is from 2004 or before.
English-language sources, strangely enough, never discuss the modified Xia-class. But Chinese-language sources have for a long time claimed that China built at least one improved Xia-class to test technologies that would be used on the Jin-class.
I stopped using the program a year ago, but most of the developed aresa and cities in China seem to be constantly updated. Most of the pre-2003 photos are extremely blotted and low-res and making out details such as a sub would be impossible.

So I say these pics are genuine.
Its no secret that theres is at least one 94 out there with at least one 93 (likely more by now), its just that a lack of credible photos makes the subject matter hazy.
