I'm seeing this and a lot of other similar videos trending in twitter recently.

Just did a cursory search and found this:

China's Nutrition Improvement Program (NIP) primarily targets students in impoverished rural areas and provides subsidies for meals, with the goal of improving their nutrition and health.
Using data from the China Family Panel Studies (2010–2020), we reveal three notable findings: (1) NIP has significantly boosted rural children’s language grades by 0.223 standard deviations and math grades by 0.172 standard deviations. Over the long term, NIP raised the high school enrollment rate by 8.2%. (2) Heterogeneity analysis indicates that NIP is more effective for relatively disadvantaged groups, such as girls, younger children, and children from low-income families. (3) NIP enhances children’s educational outcomes by improving children’s nutritional intake, strengthening cognitive and non-cognitive abilities, reshaping family educational expectations, and increasing families’ investment in education.

Seems to be making waves with the Japanese and Indian in particular. Japanese because they are having very high rice prices for sometime now, to the point that rice coupons may be coming:

And Indians because well India.

At first I thought they were going to mock China for giving students a lot of rice for lunch. Then I realized that for the Japanese, rice is something of a luxury.

Right? If a Chinese person watch that video their first reaction would probably be that school lunch is kind of crappy because it's missing leefy vegetables, it would never occure to a Chinese that all you can eat rice would be a triggering warning.

Having said that, look who just pinned that very video to top of their profile:

And predictably it's triggering the Japanese, for example:

"Why are you disrespecting the rice by not using proper bowl"

I suspect a lot more like this coming in the future. People realising China's superpower status not from 6th gen fighters or CVN but from inconspicuous things like rice or chicken wings in space.
