Chinese shipbuilding industry

SK has sadly managed to turn itself into a stench in the nostrils of many Chinese simply by its own stupid hubris and arrogant antics towards China and ordinary Chinese citizens.
trying to steal many aspects of Chinese cultural heritage and traditions as its own, activating the Tha'ad ABM system despite a previous promise not to do so, and the recent discrimination against Chinese tourists just to cite a few examples.
SK could have stayed neutral between US and China but it has chosen to antagonize China, unnecessarily so imho.
so on one hand my rational mind says that China should not destroy the ship-building industry of SK to maintain healthy competition, because total domination would surely breed complacency, corruption, and eventual decline. OTOH, a weakened unfriendly SK as a US vassal would actually be a good thing when the Taiwan show down happens.
perhaps once the above is established in Beijing as a strategic direction to take, then we will see auto industry and then electronic industry decimated in SK in the not soo distant future.

Why not both. Right now it is 50/50 split. China can knock them down a notch to 75/25 and still have a sufficient competition. See Nvidia and AMD. If they play nice there is even room for cartelization.

In this uncivilized world equality does not earn any respect. Countries like them respect you more after you put them down. For lack of better word in English, "贱". They must be a junior partner because apparently they don't like being a equal.

I feel like commercial shipbuilding is like China's equivalent to Aerospace dominance through Boeing, GE (CFM), Pratt and Honeywell.

Can you imagine how difficult it would be for China to build its current navy without its commercial shipbuilding industry?

Boeing has Airbus as equal or greater competition. Very soon the Korean competition will be eclipsed. It will be a far more dominating situation than Boeing.

I don't think you can use aircraft engines as the analog of the Chinese shipbuilding industry yet since overseas orders for marine engines are mostly for foreign brands.
