People in Trumps administration like the AI czar David Sacks have publicly state that is better to get the Chinese industry dependent on US software and hardware to prevent the rise of local industries and also to use the sanction card. The Chinese industry needs to take it as a temporary reprieve rather than a long term solution.

It really amazes me again and again, the US politicians thought the Chinese and other countries are stupid

It's so interesting to see. Ion Implanter was one of the hardest of all SME to develop and China had lowest amount of Ion Implanter localization (other then lithography) until 4 years ago. But now Chinese companies are churning out ion Implanters left and right lol

I saw a video a while back where an American expert on economics stated that "governments can't innovate" in regards to China. If idiots like this are advising the State Department and other parts of the US government, there's no limit to the kinds of bad takes they can generate.

What's the point of US allowing EDA continue to be accessed in China and EUV and other hardwares remaining banned?

Allowing Chinese satisfaction from designing something conceptually only?
Do you really think Chinese companies are designing chips that they cannot manufacture domestically? Of course not. Continued access to the EDA software serves as a catalyst for Chinese software companies to catch up and then take the lead. Just like Tesla, Apple, etc. did for the Chinese market.

China's first chip-level post-quantum cryptographic card is released​


On July 3, Anhui Wentian Quantum Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Wentian Quantum) announced that the first domestic chip-level post-quantum cryptographic card, which was jointly developed by the company and Professor Liu Dongsheng's team from Huazhong University of Science and Technology , was officially released, marking a breakthrough in China's engineering application of quantum security technology and laying a solid foundation for future post-quantum cryptographic migration.

"Post-quantum cryptography is a mathematical cryptographic system that can be implemented on existing electronic computers and has the ability to resist attacks by future quantum computers. It can provide a 'better solution' for information security and is regarded as one of the key technologies for 'controlling information rights,'" said Qian Yongjun.

The two units give full play to their respective advantages, adopt the post-quantum cryptography SoC (System on Chip) chip and quantum random number chip technology architecture, and design from multiple levels of specifications such as electronics, cryptography, software engineering, physical security, and side-channel attack and defense. It supports a variety of post-quantum cryptographic algorithms and is compatible with traditional national secret algorithms. It can realize security and confidentiality functions such as digital signature/verification, asymmetric/symmetric encryption and decryption, and key generation, fully meeting the urgent needs of various information systems to resist quantum computing attacks.
