Ezhou Gedian National Economic Development Zone was established in 1990, covering an area of 96 square kilometers. It was upgraded to a national economic development zone in 2012. In 2023, it ranked 34th among the 230 national economic development zones in China and 2nd in Hubei Province. At present, five major industrial clusters have been formed here, including optoelectronics and information, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy and new materials, biomedicine, and modern business.
The chain of the optoelectronics industry is long and sophisticated, and Gedian is well aware of the principle that "those who get the materials get the first chance". In the field of organic semiconductor materials, the establishment of Wuhan Shangsai Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. is a vivid example. This company, which has nearly 200 invention patents and has been selected as a national-level "little giant" for specialization and innovation, has independently developed OLED materials and related process technologies that have reached the international leading level, breaking the long-standing foreign technology monopoly.
"Our materials can make the display effect of flexible screens and folding screens better and have wider applications." Zhuang Shaoqing, technical director of Shangsai Optoelectronics, said confidently. Shangsai Optoelectronics not only supplies domestic giants such as BOE and Huaxing Optoelectronics, but also integrates into the supply chain of internationally renowned companies such as Samsung and LG, becoming a shining business card for Gedian to embed itself in the global industrial chain in the upstream key materials field.
