Chinese semiconductor thread II

BUT Sir whom they will sell to? I'm talking about the West, India? definitely not, Japan? to much pride and can't happen, of the US vassal I can see SK adopting. What about Taiwan? TSMC is tied to the hip with ASML, they grew together from a nascent company to global juggernaut today. Not until SMEE, CETC or Huawei produce a technical disruptive technology then we can see a switch happening.

No, if it is cabbage price then it can be sold across SE Asia, Middle East, Central Asia, Russia and Serbia for a start. (There is no reason why semicon needs to be concentrated on Taiwan -- which the US is trying to redistribute anyways.)

Especially as the Chinese eco-system in EVs and electronics begin to spread across the BRI and Global South.

Chinese-built factories in Mexico can very well source from Chinese-built fabs for products headed South, not North.

And China don't have to retaliate, they're destroying each other as they compete for the golden billion pie which is shrinking very fast.

Rapidus might have been caught off guard by TSMC's and Samsung's latest announcements of plans to make 2nm chips in the US, which threatens to undermine the Japanese chipmaker's competitiveness in the American market, according to industry sources.23 hours ago

Chip equipment is just another category of capital goods.
Countries are comfortable buying Chinese equipment to build out their production lines right now and if SMEE becomes competitive....

Beyond the West, the G7 and India.
Which countries are ready to join the chip supply chain in 10, 20 years time?
I'm seeing Russia and Iran, both have the technical capability to nurture a chip industries and that will be a gamer changer as @siegecrossbow had mentioned. I'm incline to add Turkiye BUT they're in the US camp and will not upset the applecart.

Sold to foreign customers, no. (Advanced) IC equipment is a critical strategic industry. If any country wants access to that, it must provide the corresponding strategic benefits to China in return

In any case, they are going to have their hands full for at least a decade expanding production and operations to service China's domestic market
