The government is facing growing calls to stand up to the U.S.'s "undue" demand for Korean semiconductor manufacturers to reveal key business information, so as to protect local companies involved in the sector.
Mama Mia! US is getting ready for harvest season on Korean companies as wellFor major semiconductor companies such as Samsung, opening up confidential information would expose it to vulnerabilities.
this is Seoul Spring.

Totally forgot that Korea jailed that high level Samsung C-suite guy. Maybe that was the move jail him so the US can't kidnap him and pressure him to sell out and enjoy his pension in the US with a fat dollar bank account. An interesting comment on FT under the Huawei article that reinforces my belief on the motivations behind the current US request for business secrets from TSMC ,Samsung and the rest
"To all elating Taiwan trolls in service of Tsai, TSMC was already forced to establish a 5nm foundry in Arizona. Yesterday it was reported TSMC was forced to hand over trade secrets to US authorities. You think TSMC can be any different? Even Toshiba and Alstrolm had same fate when they surpassed US in a certain technology area. Huawei kept its main network business and will lead even more in 6G. In TSMC case, you will see advanced foundries moved to US soon and Taiwan will have only low level ones. Perhaps it's wise to follow Samsung's example, protect TSMC executives in your own prisons so they won't end up in prisons in US. TSMC has no strong back like Huawei. Its days are numbered "

@Topazchen Richard Chang and Lee Mong Song had bet big and came out as the big winner, aside from the monetary compensation the nation gratitude both of them will be remembered as the people behind the Chinese IC development, an acknowledgement that will attached their legacy. Bro with this as a pretext will you think a lot of TSMC engineer will cross over the mainland to work?An interesting comment on FT under the Huawei article that reinforces my belief on the motivations behind the current US request for business secrets from TSMC ,Samsung and the rest

The only thing that failed is your reading comprehension. That paragraph simply means that China can and will develop it's own chain; it has the STEM population greater than the EU, US, Japan and Korea combined. China has done this for every ban and challenge thrown at it. And when it succeeds this time as well, then what, Sleepy? You'll make a new account and pretend you never said it?And that is why China is going to fail
Wrong what? That sounds like I'm right; I didn't say PhDs but even with PhDs, China's been over the US for over half a decade.Wrong. China only recently graduated more PhDs than the US. Just because China counts every trade school graduate as a STEM degree doesn't make it so.
Oh that's wrong again? LOL That shows how you use the word, Sleepy. At least change the way you write.Who is Sleepy? Wrong.
Chinese rockets, satellites, machine tools are the the forefront of the world; you live in the past. The semiconductor ban has been there for 2 years and China's already basically caught up in DUVL and moving on EUV cutting down ASML's lead at a rate of years per month. The US is so scared it's demanding the ROC and Korea give up their tech secrets to it trying to cannibalize its "allies" to delay China's overtake. It knows that as it is, it has no chance; if it eats these 2 little pawns, it just might afford a few more minutes on the clock. The rest of the world crawls ahead while China flies and once it is ahead in a sector, the momentum remains. The rocket/satellite/machine tool/semiconductor bans have been there for 30+ years and CHina still hasn't caught up to the frontier. China won't catch up to the frontier ever because while the rest of the world is zooming ahead, China has to reinvent the wheel (including in semiconductors)
@Singapore_man bro a kindly reminder, if you come here to learn about China IC, please read it from the start and give respect to members who is more knowledgeable, thank you!!!Wrong. China only recently graduated more PhDs than the US. Just because China counts every trade school graduate as a STEM degree doesn't make it so.
