Hi WTAN,

What is next after EUVL? Is there any new development? for the next 5 years China will address the EUVL issue and maybe also 5nm tech. But she need to do so research of new tech now " IF there is" to leap frog the competition.

Seems like people are getting ahead of themselves. Many experts think a tech process without US tech is impossible.

In another word, even the 45nm process without US technology is nothing short of a miracle.

Is that so?
Then why is that most advanced fabs in the world are in tiny taiwanese island or in South Korea i wonder.

Hi TD739,

Many experts think a tech process without US tech is impossible.

True for most part, but they only know what is being reported, Most of those expert are not in China and have no idea what is happening. Chinese tech company are tight lip to avoid being sanction. And we are lucky enough to had members like WTAN to bring us NEWS and development, you may take it with a grain of salt but so far his info is accurate.

Stay on board, we can have a friendly discussion and follow the development of China IC, you will be surprised I guarantee you.

Probably based on observation of major fabs in Taiwan , Korea and China, smic use high degree of US tools.

Chinese tools are not battle tested. No idea how its yield would go. Very possible there would be hiccups.

Like I said before, another option is go rogue and take over taiwan and Intel fab equipment in china and that would buy some time.

If 45nm completely domestic and give good yield on production level, hell, it's already a major breakthrough.
