I don't think that will be a problem. It would be several years before a new major architectural change is adopted for ARM. Apple still have not moved to v9. RISC-V is now an officially supported platform for Android and Debian. So, I believe RISC-V would have enough time to become mainstream before another ARM version becomes prominent.

Interesting why Apple still use Arm v8, why ?

From what I have read most of the new features in v9 are geared towards servers as ARM is aiming to capture market share in servers, so it doesn't make much difference to mobile chips and is not an urgent requirement for Apple. However, Apple have been gradually adding some v9 features to their newer chips, so at some point they would have full v9 or equivalent in their Chips. In the Android world its already there because most chip makers just license latest cores from ARM so they get v9 by default. I think we may be going off topic, so lets stop this discussion here.

I think this is probably a fake. If it's real, there would actually be an English article of this somewhere which I cannot find.

this is the only article I can find TechInsights commenting on this issue

If he was certain this is 7nm or N+2, he probably would've said so.

More importantly, I don't quite understand why TechInsights would start attaching names like N+2 to SMIC process when previously it just said this is 7nm.

May be people expert on this subject can enlighten us further. SMIC producing 7nm using what?

It's pity that we have to wait next week’s Techinsights report,to know what's really inside the new Kirin processor. It's a shame that Chinese people need foreign company to exam and tell the progress of Chinese chips,if it isn't for Techinsights we would never know SMIC already started to produce 7nm chip.

No one in China have access to electronmicroscope or what?I hope one day there will be Chinese version of Techinsights

It is in the best interest of China to keep it secret as long as possible. Otherwise, Huawei, SMIC, etc. would be publicly announcing it themselves.

It's even worse, in the US, we rely on Bloomberg announcement on China chip progress and Bloomberg is really slow to report timely progress.

Why does America rely on a Canadian company (TechInsights).....Does no Americans have access to an electron microscope? I hope one day there will be an American version of TechInsights, so that the U.S. government can realize how much they fked up sooner.
