This seems to be related. I've seen this a couple of times now where YMTC has to cut prices on its TiPlus 7100 SSDs. I guess there is still not enough support for domestic products. So even aside from YMTC issues with production & tools, it's just not bringing in enough revenue at this point like rest of memory chipmakers.

There is still non US companies in the bidding process in the wafer processing sector.

The only company buying US equipment is a wafer manufacturing company.
I don't know why they are allowed or want to do this given the fact that if they get export controlled KLA will be forced to breach their contract and stop servicing their installed tools.

I'd suspect they moved to a planar grating, also because advanced interferometer is foreign technology. I read somewhere that China at the moment lacks a local producer with required specs.

The important thing is that they were able to overcome this technical hurdle....if grating is expensive is not a problem. Localize the full semiconductor supply chain is infinitely more expensive, but it has to be done anyhow.

Chinese SME will run at full capacity for many years to come. It's their production capacity that will determine their market share in China, not the foreign competitors. It is already like this.

And this is even more true for SMEE: if they can produce 2 machines (as long as they work), they will deliver 2 machines, if they can produce 20 they will deliver 20.

I wouldn't characterize it as "freaking out". Dylan has always been US biased, but when evaluating individual firms, he's been fair and impartial. Intel's most recent moves are destroying their future for the sake of short-term gains.

A interferometer is device that measure distances by measuring the interference between two laser wavelengths.




Because its precision is used in lithography to measure the position of the wafer stage and the mask reticle in some cases sub-nanometer accuracy. You want to avoid overlay errors.
