China need to improve in grain production ... I have no doubt that in a difficult time, grain export to China will be banned as well .. with any reason out of the blue

IIRC ... Russia should be the world's biggest exporter of grain such as wheat and Ukraine, which is controlled by Russia, is the other larger exporter of grain. No problem for China in that respect.

Rice, everyone seems to buy it from Thailand. Maybe even Vietnam would sell rice to China.

Corn is purchased from the Americans, but China produces a lot of corn. Soybeans come from America, Brazil, Argentina, whereas in the past, all soyabeans imported into China mostly came from America. Not anymore.

The Americans can ban their exports of foodstuffs to China, but China has others they can source things items from.

:D

The tone of this article is curious.

Usually, Global Times is very sensationalist on hot topics.

Here is a hot topic, and they are like welcoming the challenge in an understated way. That is the best way I can put it.

No moral stories, no quips about hard work, no references to Chairman Mao, just declaring or telling whoever is interested what to expect next.

We live in interesting times.

Bro I'm optimistic so are the Chinese ;) I don't see any panic , in fact they appear confident, like you said they're daring the US to do it....lol, for me SSA800 28nm DUVL had been verified and in mass production this year, either it's dry or wet, you may include the domestic 28nm and 14nm line.( I think Hisilicon 12nm-14nm chiplet will be coming from Huawei owned FAB) I still follow Deng's dictum of hiding one's strength or of Sun Tzu "appear weak when you're strong". MY reasoning is very simple, why not officially broadcast your achievement to blunt any more sanction, it may help ASML and the Japanese in their case against any more restriction.

Right on brother! Agree with you completely.

Going forward, I suspect somethings are going to change.

Right now, seems like some things are a state secret.

Since the Americans literally have banned everything, no point in the Chinese holding back.

We probably going to see more news flow out of how the Chinese IC industry is developing.

The US will try to ban that too. Just like how they tried to ban Huawei 10x to 20x times. LOL.

But to keep banning something, then re-ban it again, after a while, it shows impotence and not strength.

So this broadcast of Chinese IC tech capabilities which will troll the Americans into further bans, could be one of those 2 for 1 deals.

You know us Chinese! We cannot resist a deal.

:rolleyes::D

Bro I follow @olalavn post that major surprises will happen in 2024, regarding a 7nm domestic line and the appearance of Hisilicon 7nm chips. Stockpiling of ASML equipment is understandable due to SMIC and others heavy investment in their equipment. From my experience in business usually you need to acclimate yourself first before mass adoption and it may take time for SMIC and other Fab to familiarize themselves (2-3 years), so having 2 parallel line may seem an expensive exercise BUT it's a pragmatic solution in transitioning to all domestic.

it will be in testing... by 2025... it will be mass production...it's like SMIC's 12-10nm process this year... it will appear on Enjoy 60( 5G phone)

Regarding the status of YMTC. Few days ago someone did raise this question to havok

bbb aaa:这几天传闻说长存裁员,可能生产难以为继,这靠谱吗
havok:让子弹飞一会儿

A vague answer, but what do you think he is suppose to mean?

that's mean: 放松一下嘛。枪打出去了,给点过程。不能说立刻见效
