it’s actually highly likely NL impose ban on everything more advanced than the high-end ArFi like NXT2010 (including EUV) while allowing sales of the NXT1980D/E/F and other ‘dry’ DUV scanners
If what we think about Chinese duv scanners is true and indeed we are close to mass production, then if ASML makes that move is better to ban then wholly. Let the machines who were ordered come, and the machines recently bought should be enough for 1 of 2 years of expansion. In 2024 Chinese duv maybe should be good enough at ASML 1980 level for mass production?

Alright, since the article itself doesn't really provide much information, let's just stop the discussion on it for now. Impossible to know right now what may or may not be imposed. I'm also deleting off topic posts.

This article says SMEE's machines can produce machines that make 90 nm chips. This is sufficient in my opinion. People should be banned from playing video games on computers. People should stay away from the virtual world and meet people in the real world. This is better for the mental well being of the new generation. I remember back in the 80s only rich families had a TV, nobody had a computer, and people were much happier then than today. The more technology, the worse society is. Technology is a double edged sword.

sorry man, but that is some boomer ass shit.

Life was not better back then, people in rural and urban areas are as happy or miserable as they were in the 80s. Its just because of technological advancement since the 80s the same amount of labor can afford a better material condition. The same pressure are still their today as they were in the 80s.

Korean Dongjin Semichem succeed in localizing EUV photoresist, breaking the Japanese monopoly. It took one year from reliability verification to volume production, this gives an idea of the effort required to localize for semiconductor manufacturing.

"This is the result of three years of localization efforts due to the 2019 Japanese export-related regulations"

"In 2020, Young-sun Kim, former CEO of ASML Korea, was recruited as vice chairman to lay the groundwork for advancing into the EUV PR business"

It is not strictly China related, but this topic is very sensible and very alive for China too, that's why I posted it here.

This thread seems to have become "Anyone But China's semiconductor industry." That's not a bug, it's a feature. It's a natural result of China's opacity and why the US reacts with hysteria and panic when something China does bubbles to the surface.

Everyone here should remember that China's semiconductor industry (you know, the subject of the thread) is advancing very quickly even through you can't see it. What you see is the tip of the iceberg - you'll just wake up one morning without any warning and discover SMIC has received an EUV prototype.
