This should be a new round of funding though.
Yes, I believe that was for 50 million computers in government or SOE. That I believe is still ongoing. this seems to incorporate education and health system also. Keep in mind, education system are already buying domestic CPUs.

I'm not a huge fan of just throwing this much money just to switch everything over by a certain deadline. That would generate plenty of waste.

I think there are probably better ways to disburse money. For example, throw a bunch of money at ASML to get those scanners fast tracked. set up JVs for SMIC and HLMC for advanced node production (reduce their risk in these projects). Provide free money/cheap loans from local gov't to help SMEE, NAURA, AMEC and anyone else to expand production.

just to make sure I'm not reading this incorrect. This is SMEE winning bid at Tianxin, right? Also, interesting that it's a re-bidding.

Yes, Tianxin mainly does IOT chips. re-bidding is probably a mistranslation

Some famous semicon products were invented or co-invented by east
Asians,

Dr. Chenming Hu is called the Father of 3D Transistor for developing the FinFET in 1999. Intel hailed FinFET as the most radical shift in semiconductor technology in over 50 years.

The MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor, or MOS transistor) was invented by Mohamed M. Atalla and Dawon Kahng at Bell Labs in 1959.

new type of MOSFET logic combining both the PMOS and NMOS processes was developed, called complementary MOS (CMOS), by Chih-Tang Sah and Frank Wanlass at Fairchild.
I already talked about these some time ago. But.
Fujio Masuoka at Toshiba invented Flash memory and NAND Flash memory.
3D V-NAND Flash was also invented in Asia.
Blue LEDs were invented by Shuji Nakamura at Nichia.
Ching Wan Tang and Steven Van Slyke built the first practical OLED.

German Zeiss Group buys land and builds factory in China for the first time....

wow, V.W, BASF, BMW, now it's Zesis.... China's optical industry is approaching the level of Germany, and Japan...

Xi be like: we can only digest so much forced tech transfer at once. What Germany is doing is inhumane.
