I guess I have reverse dunning Kruger syndrome. I never dare say I really understand something unless I actually know the mechanics of it. Anything that's heavily model based interpretation to me is like a black box.
That is pretty much everyone. I guess a way around it is probably is to make a very simplified model in the mind that will be probably bias and wrong and then filling the blanks as more information come in. The key is accepting that simplified model is probably faulty.

I have to say that I'm ashamed that I worked at Bloomberg at one point in my life. The level of speculations and just out right lies in that article is off the chart. Although, the real problem here is not that Bloomberg write these frivolous articles, but rather people in China (who are quite ignorant on this subject) just have meltdowns reading them and then spread the news. I mean, ASML just said they can keep selling non-EUV scanners to China, but Bloomberg will keep spreading these things. And then people inside China (who do not pay attention) will spread them even further. Those people really need to get smacked down.

If you don't believe me, you can look up Weibo and Xueqiu. They are everywhere and really damages Chinese semiconductor industry by spreading fear mongering.

Again, I have no idea how much these sanctions hurt YMTC, but they came out with a statement a few days ago saying that they have stocked up enough machines that their existing production (and my guess the new lines they already set up in the second fab) are not affected by this. Btw, Gloway just came out with new SSD using YMTC 128 layer technology. Not bad for a company that apparently is going under!

In my personal view is like if they want to push narratives as stories to push agendas. Lot of investors in China, if you look social media, are pretty on edge with this, a bad news it could trigger a selling, the Bloomberg guys know this. So this was suppose a close door meeting and every single of those executives are suppose to have a duty to protect their companies, I have my doubts that Bloomberg knew what was discussed in that meeting unless they have hidden microphones or something like that.

Bloomberg most have the best CIA Ninja team, they didn't only knew that a close door meeting was holding up but they also knew what was talked in that meeting BETTER than executives attendees themselves. And this is not the first time that Bloomberg have come up with s*it like this.

The Big Hack: How China Used a Tiny Chip to Infiltrate U.S. Companies

The attack by Chinese spies reached almost 30 U.S. companies, including Amazon and Apple, by compromising America’s technology supply chain, according to extensive interviews with government and corporate sources.
4 October 2018 at 12:00 EEST
One official says investigators found that it eventually affected almost 30 companies, including a major bank, government contractors, and the world’s most valuable company, Apple Inc. Apple was an important Supermicro customer and had planned to order more than 30,000 of its servers in two years for a new global network of data centers. Three senior insiders at Apple say that in the summer of 2015, it, too, found malicious chips on Supermicro motherboards. Apple severed ties with Supermicro the following year, for what it described as unrelated reasons.

Some famous semicon products were invented or co-invented by east
Asians,

Dr. Chenming Hu is called the Father of 3D Transistor for developing the FinFET in 1999. Intel hailed FinFET as the most radical shift in semiconductor technology in over 50 years.

The MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor, or MOS transistor) was invented by Mohamed M. Atalla and Dawon Kahng at Bell Labs in 1959.

new type of MOSFET logic combining both the PMOS and NMOS processes was developed, called complementary MOS (CMOS), by Chih-Tang Sah and Frank Wanlass at Fairchild.
