If you need any more evidence that asml will continue to sell scanners to china. They made it clear in there that they will be able to continue to sell to china through 2023!

People really have to calm down and not react to every Twitter pundits who are guessing that other countries have cut off china. If America can cut off asml by itself, it already would have. Not every country is willing to kill their own ic industry just to "stick with their values".

Is going to be a long battle for US politicians to get the Europeans, the Koreans and the Japanese on board with this US export crap. As long the Chinese stay away as far as possible from the Ukrainian conflict, I think they are going to be fine, at least for a while. They should not rest in their laurels.

Frank Huang, chairman of Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp , said the sector was caught in a difficult situation. We do business on both sides of the Strait. So we can't listen to the U.S. and not do any business with mainland China. Then what would everyone eat?" Huang said. "Our industry's position is to maintain our competitiveness."

"Nikon’s NSR-S635E ArF immersion scanner “Provides world-class device patterning and productivity for 5-nm node applications and beyond,” the company has said, revealing new chip-making horizons without EUV."

This immersion scanner is worth taking a look-see by Chinese companies... The state can help partially finance a pilot testing program. If it is greatly free or even devoid of any American inputs, that makes it all the more valuable. Nikon will definitely want a reliable market for its goods... It is necessary for SMIC and other Chinese chip makers to diversify from ASML...

But if it turns out to be as capable as advertised, the Japanese government will come under enormous pressure from the US to prevent its sale to any Chinese company. Eve though Nikon is not doing as well as ASML, the Kantei will probably capitulate to Washington's demands.

NEV production ramp up is having a huge positive affect on the domestic power chip producers.

Silan Microelectronics (士兰微) is planning to raise 6.5 billion RMB for a huge expansion. 3 billion on a new production line that will produce 360k a year (30k wpm) of 12-inch wafers. 750 million on new line producing SiC power components. 1.1 billion on producing auto chip packaging.

this breaks down to 120k a year of FS-IGBT, 120k of T-DOMOSFET and 120k of SGT-MOSFET.
Sic line will produce 120k a year of Sic-MOSFET and 24k a year of SIC-SBD 6 inch wafers. I think Sic is probably all 6 inch wafers.
The auto chip packaging will produce 7.2 million auto grade power packaging.

We know that BYD and Leapmotor are their clients. As such, I can only assume BYD has placed large orders here. 7.2 million cars!

I think the Korean lesson is still there... China must localize it, which is considered as a reserve for risks ... such as KLA, Lam, fortunately China also has AMEC, NAURA, Keyi Hongyuan, Beijing Guowang Optical....

ASML CEO Peter Wennink: “Based on our initial assessment, the new restrictions do not amend the rules governing lithography equipment shipped by ASML out of the Netherlands and we expect the direct impact on ASML’s overall 2023 shipment plan to be limited.

This for me is the official confirmation US failed to coerce Holland government.

ASML CEO would not be so clear and direct at the official third-quarter reporting meeting with investors if he isn't sure.

For the time being Holland 1 - USA 0 ...but the match is still long....

Honestly I didn't expect Holland and ASML to resist. I've rarely been so happy to be wrong! ;)

I doubt anyone except the US is interested in snubbing China at the cost of the economy right now. Maybe this would change in a few years but if rates continue going up with a stronger US dollar. No one wants to burn billions as their own currencies make all time lows again and again. Especially not during a global recession.
