I must say that from my reading through Chinese BBS, there are two group of netizens holding opposite extreme fetishes. On the one hand, ultra proud nationalists who bloat up Chinese capabilities. The opposite side always disbelieve Chinese capabilities and keep on finding evidence of Chinese copying, buying Foreign weapon technologies, their behaviors are called by other Chinese "(Foreign) father finding" for every Chinese systems. This second group are much larger in numbers than the first group even after so many recent revealings of Chinese development. Both groups use lying, fabrication (PSing) and missinterpretation to back their claims. Quit sick, delusional, it is a mental disease. I am speaking literally.:(
There are still some of us in the middle. Don't forget about us please. :)

China Declines to Comment Information on Russian Su-35 Fighter Jet Delivery
(Source: TASS-Defense; published Oct 06, 2016)

BEIJING --- Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun has declined to comment information that Russia will deliver four Sukhoi Su-35 (NATO reporting name: Flanker-E) fighter jets to China before the year-end.

"Russia and China continue cooperating in the sphere of combat aircraft," he said at a regular briefing conference.

"Bilateral interaction in the aviation and other spheres is developing in accordance with the program," he added.

Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Vyacheslav Shport said on September 15 that the Gagarin Aircraft Plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in Russia’s Far East would deliver four out of 24 Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets to China before the yearend.

It was reported earlier that a contract for the delivery of 24 Su-35 multipurpose fighter jets to China had been signed in November 2015. The deal is estimated at more than $2 billion.

Head of Russia’s state hi-tech corporation Rostec Sergei Chemezov said in March that the deliveries "will not start this year."

Chinese pilots learn to read in Russian

Party of the Su-35 fighter jets will be delivered in Beijing is almost the same modifications as for the Russian VKS. Devices will display information in Russian

Moscow and Beijing have agreed appearance and supplied advanced Russian Su-35 fighters to China. The information in the cockpit will be displayed in Russian - this is the wish of the customer.

As told "Izvestia", Deputy General Director of the Group of electronic technology (KRET, is included in "Rostec") Givi Janjgava, after a series of consultations and negotiations, it was finally decided that China will receive the machine in the form in which they are supplied air and space forces of Russia. The only guise of the Chinese version will be integrated into the on-board units of the Chinese satellite navigation system BeiDou. A data mapping procedures will remain Russian. The first Su-35 Air Force People's Liberation Army (PLA) are waiting at the end of this year.

- Adaptation of the on-board equipment to national requirements of the customer - this is one of the most important technical procedures, - told the newspaper Givi Janjgava. - Throughout the year we have worked hard to put the display in the cockpit data in Chinese. However, in contrast to the inscriptions nor Cyrillic or Latin, hieroglyphics were difficult to read on LCD monitors. As a result, the Chinese side has asked to leave everything as it is. Moreover, the PLA pilots already have the experience of flying on a Russian Su-27, where the cabin is also not adapted to China, and Chinese pilots "read" on-board information in Russian.

As told Janjgava, cockpit Su-35 is completely "glass" (ie panel with numerous sensors and mechanical indicators is replaced by the multiple displays that are set to display the required data at a particular point). However, Su-35 displays explanation of the instruments and a team duplicated characters were too finely written, blurry and unreadable as a result. The problem could be solved by making larger displays, but it would be a completely different cabin, would require additional time and money to develop and test. The Chinese partner is not satisfied, and after consultation with the pilots of the PLA was finally decided to leave things as they are, that is, displays Cyrillic.

Professor of the Academy of Military Sciences Vadim Kozyulin recalls that the first plane in which the said equipment with the pilots in their own language, have been specially commissioned by India's Su-30MKI and MiG-29K. When the machine has decided to buy the Russian Defense Ministry, on-board equipment has been reprogrammed from Latin to Cyrillic. According to some sources, change the "language" in the user cost of several million dollars.

- In the case of the Chinese language is a problem untranslatable words and abbreviations due to lack of relevant terms or their ambiguity, - says Vadim Kozyulin. - Translated they are unrecognizable for Chinese pilots. Such problems with the transition from Latin to Cyrillic or back does not arise.

Currently in service with the air and space forces of Russia is 48 Su-35S. The car has passed its baptism of fire in Syria, fully confirming the high specifications that are not in the least influenced the decision to order an additional 50 military fighter jets.

China plans to get 24 Su-35 machine.

Doesnt matter. China only wants the su-35 to get to its engines. Once they arrive in china, they will be mothballed or fitted with chinese instruments.

Wait a minute, this makes no sense. You are saying the incredible engineers at Sukhoi don't know how to make their LCDs to display Chinese? My $30 MP3 can do it with ease...

And untranslatable words? This is not the first day that the Chinese is beginning to learn how to fly an airplane. The Chinese learned how to operate airplanes from the Russians a long time ago. They would have hammered out the language issue long ago.

Only? That is a ridiculously expensive choice. Why would they want to spend so much to acquire a 142kN Saturn 117S engines when CAC has been dealing Salut for such a long time. They already use 134kN - 138kN class Salut engines. Salut has also offered all-aspect 3D TVC.

Maybe the Su-35 is needed to fill the vacancies left by the early Su-27SK. The Su-27SK have not been upgraded, and they are not R-77 compatible unlike Su-27UBK, J-11/11A. Some (all?) Su-27SK were scrapped and engines cannibalized. J-11B is a major step-up but it is well behind the Su-35. The only thing that is comparable on paper is the J-11D. But that is still in testing and we have only seen 2x planes. Su-35 is available right now for export. If the PLAAF is in a hurry, then the best in the export market is the Su-35.

Buying the Su-35 give the PLAAF its 1st TVC integrated plane. So there maybe lessons learnt in TVC FBW integration.
