Thanks for the link. That is a debian pkg, I am using redhat/fedora so don't think it will work. I guess another name for wechat is weixin which seems to give me some more clues on google.
I mean, if we're blunt almost no one on this planet has high computational requirements. Even gamers don't really need a strong CPU, they just need a strong GPU. There are very few people who actually needs a high powered CPU. The school thing though is less about the computational power but more about addiction. Look at Apple. Terrible products and a complete walled garden. In almost all situations Apple computers would be dead by now. BUT they donate billions in machines to schools. Kids get used to Apple products and will use them in the future. So China sending kids Chinese computers is brilliant. Apple exists almost purely because of that.More evidence like this where Chinese OS and CPUs are increasingly being adopted in schools. I guess the computational requirements aren't high there, so even if the domestic CPUs are slower, it's not a problem.
But the good part about this is software developers will be encourage to develop to domestic OS.
I've used HarmonyOS for a few years now. Meanwhile, I've used Samsung for work over the past year, and iOS for personal. There's no competition. HarmonyOS blows them out of the water. Especially if you are also using a Huawei laptop and/or watch, but even if you're not. It's so good that I am tempted to buy a Huawei laptop and watch for the ecosystem synergy. The only thing stopping me is that they don't have dedicated gaming laptops and their watches don't preserve value like a Rolex.Counterpoint Research says that in Q1 2023 HarmonyOS had a 2% global market share and in Q4 2022 8% market share in China
