Seems it pretty weak. Has no armor at all!. And by the way, what that two barrels on the top for?

It's a FAV (Fast Attack Vehicle).

It is more of a recon vehicle. Recon vehicles aren't meant to slug it out, they are to get in, and get out quickly to collect intel, and if detected, good speed and off-road capabilities is key to survival to get out with the intel.

Dosen't look like it has enough wheel elevation to go over rough terrain, plus the lack of a sturdy roll bar is pretty frightening.

The FAV is operated by the PLA Airbourne Corps. It replaced the BJ2020 Light Vehicle. Being a vehicle that can be air dropped by Y-8/Y-7 the vehicle must sacrifice some armour in order to make the vehicle lighter. The vehicle is meant to be simple simple in maintenance and logistics. FAV is faster, lighter, more payload then the original Light vehicle in operation. Its speed and agility makes up for the lack of protection, as it is basically a scouting/patrol vehicle mean't for fast deployment. The FAV isn't designed for intensive fighting but more of a surveliance vehicle/light crew transport vehicle.

Probably a competitor that lost out to the FAV that we know of with 4 proper seats and rear engine.

looks like a beach buggy with guns...... if that ever enters service, it will be the most stupid and useless vehicle in the PLA inventory. i mean, look at its bright yellow boy-racer seats (i'm about to throw up)!! and who is going to operate the machine gun? that thing has about 1 cm of ground clearance and will probably get stuck on road bumps.

LOL!

The SX-1 is the FAV from the PRC side in BF 2!

However, in real life I have grave doubts about its actual usefulness and survivability because as a FAV for the PLA's Airborne Divisions, it will only have one destination in mind for deployment: Taiwan.

The SX-1 looks so flimsy that I bet even a half-trained ROC infantryman with an M-16A2 can kill or severely wound any of the three PLA Paratroopers sitting in this plastic garbage can on wheels-the Republic of China Army certainly is no pushover-does this thing have any armour at all?

The average ROCA platoon is based on US Army lines and would expect out of a squad to have at least 8 M-16A2/A4 rifles, 1 M249 SAW and 1 Anti Armour weapon such as Milan, Javelin or Dragon-all would toast our garbage can:roll:

Seriously, the PLA general that advocated this thing into PLA service should be shot for incompetence.

if you really want something to recon, do what the SAS and British Army have been doing for half a century and get somebody on a motorcycle with a radio to scout ahead. At least you won't be losing three men in one go.
