I think the more humanistic Chinese movies, spanning all genres, have a lot of potential in the international market if they are presented appropriately, in the US the already limited marketing is usually both a complete mess and miss. Pure action Chinese movies are rather worn and Chinese scifi is really not there yet.

Yeah but Chinese Kung Fu films are the still the best. IP Man 3 for example is far more exciting to watch when Donnie Yen vs. Mike Tyson go at it than say the Batman vs. Superman fight. Audience world wide still prefers real live action speed and skills than computer graphic super heroes, although nothing wrong with the super heroes fight IMO. Now if IP Man 3 would have the same opportunity to open up big here in the states like in BvS did world wide, it would blow them out of the water.

I'm looking forward to this sci-fi movie coming out in a few months called The Three-Body Problem. It's based on a novel by Liu Cixin, which won the Hugo award in 2015 for Best Novel. The director said that he wants to do justice to the novel and the budget is 200 million Yuan.
