As part of large scale military exercises series in the Natuna Islands region in the South China Sea, Indonesian Armed Forces (Tentara Nasional Indonesia – TNI) chief General Gatot Nurmantyo has ordered for ‘Armada Jaya’ to be repeated after attempts to successfully launch Chinese-made C-705 anti-ship missiles during the serial failed, reports IHS Jane’s.
For the repeat exercise, the Indonesian Navy (TNI – Angkatan Laut, or TNI-AL) will attempt to launch a C-802 anti-ship missile, which has also been acquired from China, from the Todak-class missile attack craft KRI Layang (805).
This will be followed by land-based exercises that will be undertaken by the Indonesian Army on the same island.
