Chinese military exports to other countries

Maybe US but definitely not Russian. The only advantage Russian have for export is Su-27 base fighter which is a heavy weight 4th generation fighter.

FC-1 is designed as a low cost single engine which has low operating cost in mind for buyer. Russian has no modern single engine fighter to offer for export market. Myanmar opt for MIg-29 maybe they felt safer with a twin engine and also it matches it existing fleet of Mig-29 which reduces logisitc problem for them. But doesn't mean it will be cheaper in maintenance.

Don't forget, FC-1 is using engine approved by Russian. I don't think Russian is stupid to aprrove something that will work against their export interest.

China has proven it can match Russian export tank in VT-1A for Peru. In warship, if 540A can be export. It will be better than anything Russian can produce. Submarine, China has Song for export.

In army, I think that is where China can virtually matches anything Russian can throw. From arty, rifle, anti-tank missile, IFV,APC and self propelled gun.

China's arms exports, there were indeed many advantages, and made rapid progress, but in the current situation, China's arms sales abroad, a large gap in comparison with the West counties, also a big gap in comparison with Russia, In addition, China's rapid economic development, there is a large national defense arme sale demand, China's military development of enterprises is guaranteed at the same time, China's military industrial enterprises to military and civilian transition, ensuring the stable development of China's military industrial enterprises.
China's foreign sales of arms, politics need to consider a number of factors, but also taking into account national security, China is surrounded by hostile forces around, to national defense secrets - some of the most advanced weapons can not sell.
But Russia is different from its military-industrial enterprises, in order to survive, they selling every thing if they can, Mig-29 low-cost large-dumping, which also explains why they still sell the engine to the FC-1.
FC-1 is currently the major markets in Pakistan, and China would also have to loan money to Pakistan for purchase.
Myanmar's recent decision to purchase 22 of Mig-29, to stop buying Chinese fighter.

A lot of sites are saying that on January 3rd, China delivered 2 Z-9WA attack helicopters to Kenya, making it the first successful Z-9WA export.

this is not actually export news, but China's import from Russia, but it's pretty related to this, so we can probably put all export/import news here.
Shrinking military exports to China natural - Rosoboronexport (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Jan 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Rosoboronexport forecasts further
decline in military-technical cooperation with China, Rosoboronexport
Director General Anatoly Isaikin said.
"The declined cooperation with China is only natural, as the
Chinese defense sector is booming," he told reporters on Thursday.
The share of China in overall Russian military exports has fallen
to 18%, and a further decline to 15% is possible, Isaikin said.
"That is a natural process," he added.
"China is not interested in buying ready-made armaments," Isaikin
said.
China buys a relatively small amount of weapons from Russia and
other countries. "The purchases from Russia are even bigger than those
from other states," he said.
"The same trend prevails in relations with other partners," Isaikin
said. "The emphasis is put on the transfer of technologies and joint
development of new arms."
China did not take an interest in creating fifth-generation weapons
together with Russia, Isaikin said.
"India made a proposal to that effect, and Russia gave an
affirmative answer," he said.
Russia and India are working on a fifth-generation cargo plane and
a multifunctional warplane, he said.

well, more talks of military cooperation between the two countries. I thought they already thought some C-802s to Indonesia. I guess they are just selling more now. And C-705 missiles export have been confirmed I guess. As they already said a few posts before this that they are putting C-802/705 on their ships.
Indonesia, China set to boost military relations
Dicky Christanto, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Sat, 05/22/2010 1:14 PM | National

Indonesia on Friday offered China non-weapon military supplies and in return would consider buying Chinese-made missiles in a sign of improving ties between the two countries.

"We offered locally produced military uniforms, belts, berets, boots and many other military items and the Chinese have shown interest in the offer," Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro told a press conference on Friday after meeting with Chinese Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Gen. Guo Boxiong.

Apart from promoting supporting military apparel, Purnomo said, Indonesia also introduced its newest assault rifle, the SS-2.

China's 2.5 million-strong military is the largest in the world, Purnomo said. "It means a promising market for our supporting military equipment industry."

In return, he added, the ministry would consider purchasing Chinese-made C-802 guided missiles for the Indonesian Navy.

The C-802 is an upgrade to the C-705, which is still used by the Indonesian Navy.

Jakarta is hoping that China considers its offer to build the missiles in Indonesia and allow joint production to support Indonesia's intention to increase local components in its military industry.

Indonesian Deputy Defense Mi-nister Lt. Gen. Syafrie Syamsuddin, on a separate occasion, said the proposed arrangements should be viewed as a ramification of the consequences of the implementation of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) that has greatly benefited China, which has flooded ASEAN states with cheap consumer goods.

"The talks are for our mutual benefits," he said.

Initiated in 2002, the ACFTA, was implemented this year. Under the ACFTA, commodities from both China and the 10 ASEAN member countries are no longer subject to import duty.

Syafrie added that the meeting between Chinese and Indonesian military leaders showed that China had realized that Indonesia played a pivotal role in safeguarding regional stability.

As for the plan, he said, both countries would hammer out the details in the near future.

"We will meet again by the end of the year."

Syafrie said other items were also discussed Friday, including military personnel exchange and joint exercises to tackle terrorism and piracy.

University of Indonesia international relations expert Makmur Keliat said the visit by the Chinese top brass was an indication that Indonesia-China relations continued to improve.

"The cooperation plans for Indonesia to sell supporting military equipment and to buy Chinese-made weapons should be seen as a good start to improving bilateral relations," he told The Jakarta Post.

Under Soeharto, bilateral relations were strained as the Soeharto regime voiced suspicions that China supported communist movements in Indonesia.
more, looks like China is helping Indonesia with flanker training, makes a lot of sense since they are both getting knaapo made flankers.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government of Indonesia and the Republic of China agreed to strengthen cooperation for the training of pilots jet fighter Sukhoi TNI Air Force.

Cooperation strengthening exercises, became a topic of discussion in honor of visiting Vice Chairman Central Military Commission of China (Central Commission of The People Liberation Army / PLA) Gen Guo Boxing Yusgiantoro to the Minister of Defense in Jakarta on Friday.

Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Medhio I Wayan said, Indonesia has sent Sukhoinya train pilots in China in several stages.

"Already there are ten Air Force pilots who conduct simulation training in China in several stages," he said.

China is one of the largest operators Sukhoi fighter jets in addition to two pieces of state Soviet Union ie, Russia and Ukraine. Even now China has been appointed as one of the Sukhoi aircraft-producing countries.

Bamboo Curtain countries also have training centers such as the Sukhoi fighter aircraft with various variants such as SU-27 SU-30MK SK and used Army Air Force.

Some countries Sukhoi users are Indonesia, India, China, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Algeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Peru and North Korea. (R018/A024

Dear Sirs:

While China makes many weapons that Indonesia would find useful (and at an unbeatable price) I think its a little optimistic for the Indonesian's to believe that they could sell the Chinese uniforms or military rifles for that matter.

China exports uniforms to countries like Britain, France and Germany, and has to competitively bid to win those contracts.

The fact that those countries are NOT using Indonesian uniforms (despite the stigma against China) implies that the Chinese-made uniforms are the better buy.

What would then be the incentive for China to procure Indonesian uniforms?

As to military rifles, Indonesia doesn't even produce its own design, it merely manufactures copies of other designs under license.

China not only makes its own design (along with its own ammunition) but it is also the largest maker of copied rifles.

Indonesia's manufacturing design, technology and capacity are all well behind that of China's.

Technically and logistically, there is just no incentive for China to procure Indonesian-made equipment.

Technically and logistically, there is just no incentive for China to procure Indonesian-made equipment.

The incentive would not be based on quality or value for money. It is a political incentive.

Ever since the implementation of C-AFTA the Asean countries has had a decline in their manufacturing industry for not being able to compete in both quality and value for money compared to China's product. The goods from China has flooded the Asean market. In turn China received tax free raw materials imported.

The purchase of any Indonesian equipment would curb the government sentiment as being the loser in the C-AFTA.
Since we are all adults here and the reality is that Indonesian officials would be receiving a lot of kick backs and mark ups from these deals hence keeping some people happy.

Further along the track, the importation of low value items such as uniforms and few thousand rifles would open the way of high value, high tech export to Indonesia.

It is more of giving face to the Indonesian and probably planting the seed of future trades

Pakistan begins submarine procurement talks with China

By Farhan Bokhari - 11 June 2010

China's vice-president, Zheng Dejiang, met with civil and military leaders in Pakistan on 9-10 June in a visit surrounded by reports of a major new defence deal under discussion that would see Pakistan buying at least three Chinese submarines.

Speaking to Jane's on 9 June, a senior Pakistani government official said the Pakistan Navy began discussions with "the Chinese authorities last month for an eventual submarine deal" for up to three or four boats, but declined to specify the types or terms under discussion.

[...]

The Pakistani government official who spoke to Jane's on 9 June said that it was vital for the navy to acquire more submarines to offset "the pressure we will definitely come under" due to the rapid expansion of India's naval capability. ...

Although neither China nor Pakistan have ever publicly revealed the terms of their past financial arrangements, defence analysts say that China continues to offer long-term loans to Pakistan on concessional terms, allowing the country to continue with its military hardware purchases.

Not a big surprise from Cambodia given how much they exported there. Here's a picture of a pair of truck mounted FN-6s in a military parade in Phnom Penh last year

also from last month, a donation of 257 military vehicles to the Cambodian armed forces:
