Maybe US but definitely not Russian. The only advantage Russian have for export is Su-27 base fighter which is a heavy weight 4th generation fighter.
FC-1 is designed as a low cost single engine which has low operating cost in mind for buyer. Russian has no modern single engine fighter to offer for export market. Myanmar opt for MIg-29 maybe they felt safer with a twin engine and also it matches it existing fleet of Mig-29 which reduces logisitc problem for them. But doesn't mean it will be cheaper in maintenance.
Don't forget, FC-1 is using engine approved by Russian. I don't think Russian is stupid to aprrove something that will work against their export interest.
China has proven it can match Russian export tank in VT-1A for Peru. In warship, if 540A can be export. It will be better than anything Russian can produce. Submarine, China has Song for export.
In army, I think that is where China can virtually matches anything Russian can throw. From arty, rifle, anti-tank missile, IFV,APC and self propelled gun.
China's arms exports, there were indeed many advantages, and made rapid progress, but in the current situation, China's arms sales abroad, a large gap in comparison with the West counties, also a big gap in comparison with Russia, In addition, China's rapid economic development, there is a large national defense arme sale demand, China's military development of enterprises is guaranteed at the same time, China's military industrial enterprises to military and civilian transition, ensuring the stable development of China's military industrial enterprises.
China's foreign sales of arms, politics need to consider a number of factors, but also taking into account national security, China is surrounded by hostile forces around, to national defense secrets - some of the most advanced weapons can not sell.
But Russia is different from its military-industrial enterprises, in order to survive, they selling every thing if they can, Mig-29 low-cost large-dumping, which also explains why they still sell the engine to the FC-1.
FC-1 is currently the major markets in Pakistan, and China would also have to loan money to Pakistan for purchase.
Myanmar's recent decision to purchase 22 of Mig-29, to stop buying Chinese fighter.
