Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a wholly owned subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC, the largest shipbuilding group in China) launched the first C82A Corvette on order for the Algerian Navy on August 16 2014. Algeria signed a contract with China Shipbuilding Trading Co (CSTC) for construction of three C82A corvettes in March 2012.

Should perform well enough since they purchased VN1's instead of Russian BTR-80's what were bought for Venezuelan army few years ago. Perhaps Venezuelans aren't too happy with BTR-80's since they didn't buy more of them and BTR-80 does have some weird design features.

I think the weird design you mention here is the side-entrance instead of rear-ramp. However, BTR-80 is rather old design compared to the new VN1.

I read some document that VN1's armor is able to resist the 12.7 AP round in the front, and resist 7.62 AP round on the sides. I wish they make it to resist 12.7 AP round from all sides, that would make the vehicle safer.

Apparently you can get add-on armor for ZBL-09 and VN1, but nowhere it says if it looses swimming capabilities after extra armor is added.

The hull and the turret of the ZBD-09 is made of high hardness armor steel, which provide a protection against 12.7mm armour-piercing incendiary (API) strikes frontally at 100m, 7.62mm API on the sides at 100m and 7.62mm ball at the rear. The ZBD-09 can also be fitted with add-on armour package enables the vehicle to survive 25 mm API frontally at 1,000m and 12.7mm API on the sides at 100m.

That's what I read about the spec of the VN1. I believe engineers studied their cases and come to conclusion that these protections are enough. However, having read about recent bombing against armored vehicle in Iraq, I hope them (engineers) would take into account urban warfare environment where enemies are just adjacent to you and they can detonate anything just below your feet.

If it is land mines, you need MRAPS. APCs are useless.

MRAP is just a term. If you add such function to your APC, then it will become another MRAP. Whatsoever, consider if you need to fight an urban warfare, what would you equip your vehicle?

I don't know the specs for sure but it's probably the reason for a one man turret is to save gas and money by cutting weight.

The Venezuleans probably don't expect to need a two person turret if they intend to use the VN-1 for cracking down on urban unrest/internal security.

8x8 with 30mm cannon is a bit overkill for riot control :) China can sell them perfectly adequate 4x4 armored car specifically designed for riot control and battle tested too.
my guess would be Venezuelan army doctrine dictated the one man turret. perhaps their squad size is larger.

These VN1's are going to Venezuelan marines, their army has already BTR-80's. They probably did go with VN1 because it's better design and even without add-on armor better protected than BTR-80.

BTR-80 offers less protection and apparently design doesn't allow add-on armor.
