It is like comparing apple and orange. It is NOT the same thing. They have been working on laser for 30 years now with nothing to show other than incinerating small boat 150 m big deal!
No, actually it is not comparing apples to oranges. Both are examples of weapons that are extremely difficult to develop and many people with absolutely no vision of the future have laughed at these technologies and said they can't be done or are too far away. Hypersonics like lasers has also been researched for decades and is only now bearing fruit. If it were for people like you hypersonics would never have been researched in the first place. Same thing with fusion power. Short-sighted people say it's too hard, too expensive, takes too long, there are other power sources, blah blah blah. But steady progress has been made. The timeline is long but the rewards are immense. The fact that you have no patience for long timelines makes absolutely no difference to the thousands of very smart people around the world, probably most or all of them smarter than you, that are working to make compact militarized lasers a reality. So you can rant and rage about lasers all you want. Meanwhile the world just laughs and moves on.

And it will take another 300 years for laser weapon to work!
I will take this as hyperbolic exaggerated melodrama, because on the face of it this statement is absolutely ridiculous.

The difference is Hypersonic make a progress and laser doesn't as simple as that
and your much vaunted US technology hasn't make much progress either in hypersonic research
Well there will always be tomorrow

Yeah and 10 years ago you would be here saying it will take another 300 years for hypersonics to work. The people who matter in military laser research are not listening to your hilariously exaggerated pessimism. That's the important point here.

The LaWS is done after the Ponce decommissions. I don't know where you got that LaWS is a "gigantic success", but it is successful in what it was designed for, which is essentially just as a technology demonstrator. LaWS generates several dozen kW of power but to be effective as a weapon you really need 5-10 times more power than what LaWS can generate.
OK thought it was hyped more than in
Watch: US Navy tests it’s new “laser gun” with great success

That's right, the US has, after months of in-service testing, pretty much got this thing working properly. Oh and it's accurate too, not stormtrooper accurate... lightsaber accurate.

actually in 2015 LockMart got to this "operationally relevant scenario":

"The truck was mounted on a test platform with its engine and drive train running to simulate an operationally-relevant test scenario."

Well your own article says the US is working on 100 to 150kW versions of this laser, clearly indicating this 30kW laser is not meant to be the operationally deployed version.

I guess you didn't read the entire article that this quote is taken from.
your comment made to check the USNI news (quoted inside that CNN report) which I hadn't previously:

"ONR’s next step for laser weapons will be a 100 to 150 kilowatt version it plans to test in 2016 or 2017."

how did the testing go?

I have no idea. As for the LaWS, your quote of it being operationally deployed is wrt to the Ponce only; there were and are no plans for it to be deployed on any other ship.
