A Stryker costs $4.9million. So factoring in the China price. I'm guessing $1.9million. Final answer.

yes but the 2003 base hull was $1.42million. most of the costs seen today are from add ons remost weapons, slat armor, double V hull air conditioners, upgraded engine, and digital systems.

So my $1.9million inflation adjusted for a base hull stryker doesn't sound that far off.

two interior shots of ZBD04A, which the export version VN12 is based on. Back to wall seats and one big side opening door as you can see. Shooting out of the firing port is going to be awkward, perhaps made somewhat easier by bullpup rifles. PLA doctrine still call for firing ports. You can still mount ERA if necessary, just cover up the fire ports.

Do you think the red cylinder is the fire suppression unit?

Also the VT4 hull IMO look more like the shape of Type -85

High-resolution photo of the new IFV that surfaced a few months ago. I was hoping to see it at Zhuhai, but it was a no-show. I wonder if it's is intended for export. Anyway, the troop compartment looks to be significantly roomier, judging by the vehicle's proportions. The Chinese are taller and bigger these days, and the current ZBD09 8x8 always struck me as stingy in the the space department.

Yet another new remote weapons station on top, and this baby is fully amphibious.

you sure it's a IFV? it lacks a Coax and the main gun looks like it could traverse into the vertical. If i was to make a guess I would say a anti air gun but it is lacking a radar unless it mounts on that spar on top.

You are correct. This isn't an IFV. I should have called it armored personnel carrier but not an IFV. There might be an AFV variant based on the same chassis, but that's another story.

IFV means it has a autocannon of 20mm or higher, APC means it's just a armored vehicle that may be armed with a MG under 20mm. AFV or armored fighting vehicle is a general term that can serve as a Catch all. since we don't have specs on the gun it's hard to gauge. but based on the lack of a visible coax and radar a APC seems most likely given it has the view ports. this thing must lack firing ports and shows a strong relation to the ZBD09. I am guessing the cover over the headlamps flips up to keep water from coming over the prow.

Interesting that there are view ports on the side of the vehicle, but no firing ports for the mounted infantry. This could be a clue that it is not an IFV?

I will now get back to bottling my Malbec

I wonder what that cylinder is on top of the turret?

My outrageous guest is a millimeter wave radar for active protection :p or a red siren light.

Also, does anyone know what does VN (the new APC/IFV) stand for?
