Chinese Hypersonic Developments (HGVs/HCMs)

I'm aware that in US the automotive industries converted much earlier to metric measurements than aerospace. Some time ago there was the joke that all countries had converted except US and Yemen. :)
Probably because the British were also using imperial and American aerospace wasn't dependent on other countries except maybe Britain. (I would say they probably did some work with Canadian aerospace, but the American military industrial lobby killed the blossoming Canadian aerospace industry. Go figure,)

And actually, do you really think nations share their most advanced aerodynamic simulation software? Software that they build up painstakingly using real wind tunnel data? Yeah a nation may not need to do some task with the wind tunnel when they can use prediction in software, provided that they already have done the work and understood the problem thoroughly.

But a country with no advanced wind tunnel testing experience arguing that they can do it all in software? Good luck, and where is your software?

And I bet after all the advanced software simulation using the most advanced supercomputer, the designers still fall back to the real world physical wind tunnel to do a final confirmation and fine tuning of the simulation/experimental data before they even actually start building their first prototype.

The metric system was designed before the French revolution and adopted in the Netherlands, and many other European countries, after the Battle of Waterloo but sometime during the first half of the 19th century. UK was pretty early at about 1970, IIRC. US followed very slowly thereafter.
I was taught the intricacies of the Roman Imperial system at the beginning of my study, complete with such oddities as the slug, the mass that is given an acceleration of one foot per second squared if acted upon by one lbf ( pound force ).

Unit conversion gets in the way of learning concepts in Physics and Engineering because you'll have to juggle them both at the same time. The nice thing about the metric system is that everything except maybe time units goes up in powers of 10, which is convenient and feels natural because we're already using a base 10 counting system.

True, but for the architectural and construction field I'm so used to using the American system in feet and inches to help me size up walls, floors, and spaces in my held during the design phase.

Military related fields tend to metric. Although there are still some throw backs it tends that anything post 1970 has English measures vs Post 1980 when metrics really kicked up. That said we are still taught in schools the older means of inch foot yard and the like.
Remember that even the Space shuttle had to base it measurement on the width of a train tunnel designed around the gauge set by the ruts of a house drawn carriage.

In any event this is all OT in regards to the aim of the thread a Chinese Hypersonic vehicle development either a glider or powered.

8000 km is enough to reach Hawaii if flown from most parts of Manchuria.

It would also cover Europe, most of Indian Ocean include Diego Garcia, and big parts of Africa. If also consider the armament carried this platform is probably designed with strike reach of most of the world except north and south america. It could also be a strategic denial weapon.
