Chinese Grenade Launcher

It's an incendiary round, the pouch is supposed to contain 3. Guess it must have been left behind somehow, maybe after an exercise.

Someone is probably going to get their butt chewed by a NCO for the missing round.

And the guy who found it really shouldn't be playing around with it like that in the house, or indeed, anywhere, and should have handed it in to the police after he found it.

Indeed, if that one is still live (doesn't look like expended), whoever posting that is actually in for some serious trouble - if the law don't catch up with him, he's going get himself killed if and when (more like a matter of "when", not "if") he accidentally pulled that trigger.

Looks awfully familiar to WWII japanese grenade dischargers. looks very crude, nothing but a small tube.

No, the drum is actually what is needed to keep weight low and make it light enough to be carried and operated by a single man!
Remember this weapon is meant to go with the infantry squad during an assault.
Belt-fed and tripod mounted is fine for static (defensive) use like in protecting road-blocks etc.

My guess is that the "sniper" qualification is from a unqualified reporter; the likes of who considers any weapon with an optical sight to be a "sniper" weapon and any weapon without a manually operated bolt a "machinegun".

The grenade launcher is very compact, maybe too compact to have an automatic fire mode. Looking at the length of the barrel based on where the drum mag is located, this thing certainly has the potential for decent range and accuracy if using the right kind of specially designed rounds. The integrated scope attachment arm would also indicate that this is a weapon designed to engage at range instead of being a close range fire support weapon.

One of the scopes pictured also looks fairly advanced. Maybe it's just a thermal or night vision scope, but there is a distant possibility that this is the Chinese equivalent to the XM25.
