The QLU-11 doesnt rely on velocity to punch through armor. It has 35mm HEDP grenades for that, which penetrate armor via chemical reaction, ie. shaped charge warheads. Velocity plays no role - it isnt an WWII era AT-rifle, if it is that what you are meaning...

That's not how a HEDP round works, High Explosive Dual Purpose round is another name for the High Explosive AntiTank Round or HEAT. And that's exactly what you are saying this is a Antitank rifle, but even against a light armored platform The scale of the round form the QLU 11 is all wrong.

Also I question the Equivalent of the XM25, First the M25 is lighter empty it's only 13.8 pounds with a Effective fixed target range of 600 yards. QLU is likely a lot heavier and intended for longer range.

A sniper XM25 then. Key point is the ability to shoot progrmmeable grenades.

Being longer range with a heavier round doesn't hurt either.

Oh yes it will. When you start getting to weapons that big the recoil starts really kicking.

agreed, QLU11 NEED the bipod to fire, and weights over 15KG in total...however,the recoil is a problem, not THE Problem...THE problem is the weight, which greatly limits its equipment range..cost issue aside,I can see no real problem to equip XM25 to squad level,a dedicated grenadier per squad maybe, but QLU11 most definitely cannot be used by normal squads, its more of a company level or even battalion level infantry support weapon.

No, the HE-DP works with the HEAT principle of shaped charge jets formed from an explosively formed chopper-liner, just with the added fragmentational effect. It doesnt rely on velocity. The grenade will explode upon impact, no matter how slow and at what range.

M433 40mm Cartridge High-explosive dual purpose (HEDP)

High-explosive dual purpose (HEDP) round. This round has an olive drab aluminum skirt with a steel cup attached, white markings, and a gold ogive; it penetrates at least 5 cm (2 inches) when fired straight at steel armor. It arms between 14 and 27 meters, and it causes casualties within a 5-meter radius

QLU-11 "sniper grenade launcher" doesn't appears to have the gas tube of QLZ-87. Did they go back to the roller-delayed closed bolt design of W87? That should theoretically give it better accuracy.

The author of the article above, posted by TE, believes QLU-11 is long recoil operated. The barrel recoil into the tubular receiver which functions a recoil buffer.

QLZ-87 Automatic Grenade Launcher in foreign army's hand. I don't where these photos were taken but it looks like in the battle against the ISIS.

The Small Arms Grenade Munition prototype is a 40mm counter-defilade, air-bursting grenade designed for both the M203 and M320 launchers.
