The world's second-largest economy will likely start manufacturing engines for jumbo jets soon, according to

The Shanghai-based

The first C919 passenger jet made by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac) is pulled out next to a Chinese national flag during a news conference at the company's factory in Shanghai, Nov. 2, 2015.

"It's a big growth market and I think the key, as always, is to make sure you've got competitive products that really offer something to customers," said Davis.

In addition to aerospace and cars, Rolls Royce's other business segments include industrial products for the marine, nuclear and power sectors.

Davis said he continued to expect strong growth from the

Never ending saga of Motor Sich Now the company denied that there is freeze on the asset and vow to continue the cooperation with Beijing Skyrizon Aviation Industry Investment Company . I am not sure what is Ukraine worry about .Because China can easily replicate the production facility without dismantling and using the old Ukrainian facility. It is old anyway

Ukrainian engine firm denies alleged assets freeze

A Ukrainian engine manufacturer on Tuesday denied reports that shares controlled by a Chinese company were frozen after the China side attempted to take its assets abroad.

"We all know that some people kept trying to block our cooperation on this project, but we have been working firmly to carry out the agreement and our responsibility to Beijing Skyrizon Aviation Industry Investment Company and have made great achievements," Motor Sich CEO Vyacheslav Boguslaev said at a press conference in the 17th Aviation Expo China in Beijing on Tuesday.

A Ukrainian court has frozen 41 percent of Motor Sich shares owned by Skyrizon, foreign media reported.

"The Ukrainian security services allege that the purchase of the company's stock by groups controlled by Beijing Skyrizon Aviation was an attempt to take its assets out of the country, leading to its liquidation," the South China Morning Post reported Saturday, citing the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

The Ukraine court was preserving the personal assets of a Motor Sich leader, not freezing, suing or investigating the company's assets, an anonymous source told the Global Times.

Political frictions in Ukraine caused it, he noted, and the decision would certainly not affect cooperation.

Motor Sich and Skyrizon Aviation signed several engine agreements on Tuesday.

In that case all material assets can remain in Ukraine while such plant as is needed is built in Chongqing and be more modern too ( turbine blades! ). Personnel can move to China to help start up the operation and perhaps remain there or move back to Ukraine if the situation in that unfortunate country were to improve .

Yup that look like the case. From Dafengxiao
The cooperation between Motor Sich & Tianjiao seems doesn't get affected by the latest drama, new contract signed in Beijing including

Turboshaft spec good for high altitude(tibet) and hot (xinjiang) Wonder which helicopter? existing Mi17?. According to Wiki it is Klimov engine with 1500kw output. in that case China can substitute Mi 17 engine using domestic sources including the engine?. Is Klimov a design institute and fabrication done by others?
TV3-117VMA-SBM1V 4E series
This engine is intended for civil helicopters.
Compared with helicopters powered by TV2-117 engines, TV3-117VMA-SBM1V engines can keep their power up to high environment temperatures and high altitudes of location and flight.
2.5-minute power setting provides safe helicopter take off and landing with one engine inoperative (OEI).

Main advantages of the engine:
  • high reliability;
  • increased power maintained in hot and high conditions;
  • low SFC;
  • long service life;
  • easy in-service maintenance;
  • high repairability;
  • stable operation under conditions of heavy smoke and dust;
  • low cost of life cycle.
Basic specifications:
2.5-minute power rating and
continuous power rating - 60 min (Cont 1) OEI
(SLS, ISA+10°C)

Power, shp (KW) 1700 (1251)
Continuous power rating - 60 min (Cont 2) OEI
Continuous take-off power rating (CTO) 30-min,
Take-off power rating (SLS, ISA)

Power, shp (kW) 1500 (1104)
The power can be kept up to environment temperature, °C +55
Specific fuel consumption, kg/hp•h 0.261
Cruise power setting (SLS, ISA):
Power, shp (kW) 1000(736)
The power can be kept up to environment temperature, °C +60
Specific fuel consumption, kg/hp•h 0.290
Dry weight, kg 295

I'm sure you all remember this article about the J-20 back in March
Stealth fighter soon powered by local engines
(

A domestically developed engine will soon power the nation's latest stealth fighter jet, according to a senior scientist working for Aero Engine Corp of China.

"It will not take a long time for our fifth-generation combat plane to have China-made engines," said Chen Xiangbao, vice-president of the AECC Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials. Chen, also a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was referring to the J-20 stealth fighter.

"The engine's development is proceeding well. We also have begun to design a next-generation aviation engine with a thrust-to-weight ratio that is much higher than that of current types," he said. Thrust-to-weight ratio is considered the top indicator of an aviation engine's capability.

Chen, who is a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, spoke to China Daily on the sidelines of the political advisory body's annual session.

The People's Liberation Army Air Force recently confirmed, without elaborating, that the J-20 has been put into active service. Aviation industry observers said the plane is still equipped with Russian-made engines due to the lack of a suitable domestically developed engine.

Chen said Chinese scientists and engineers are striving to catch up to the world's top players in terms of research and development into cutting-edge aviation engines, but the country still has a long way to go before it can develop and produce world-class engines, Chen said.

"For instance, we are able to develop the two most important components in an advanced engine — the single crystal superalloy turbine blades and powder metallurgy superalloy turbine disks — but in mass production, the products' quality is not very satisfactory," he said. It is a matter of time and persistence to make reliable engines, he said.

"The road to success is filled with setbacks and failures. Each of the world's engine powers has walked this road," Chen added.

Yin Zeyong, head of AECC's science and technology commission, previously said that a good engine is the result of not only good design but also time-consuming experiments and tests.

Despite China's tremendous achievements in science, technology and manufacturing industries over the past several decades, aircraft engine-making remains one of the few fields in which the country still lags behind top players like the United States and Russia. Because of the sophistication of advanced aircraft engines, such as the afterburning turbofan engine, which drives the US Lockheed Martin F-22 and Russia's Sukhoi Su-35, only the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council have the technical wherewithal to develop and produce them.

Tang Changhong, chief designer of China's Y-20 strategic transport plane and a member of the CPPCC National Committee, told West China City Daily that the Y-20 will be equipped with indigenously developed engines around 2018 or 2019.
Since we now know that the article is referring to the current WS-10X on prototype 2021, my question is what engine is he referring to when he says "We also have begun to design a next-generation aviation engine with a thrust-to-weight ratio that is much higher than that of current types". It seems unlikely it would be the WS-15 (which has undergone testing), so could the new engine be a successor class ...?

For me, it's most likely next generation engine, after ws-15.
If the beginning of ws - 15 engine started not so long ago, we would not seen a prototype for the next 10-20 years.
There is one more option.
Maybe it was a mistranslation.

To the contrary China should continue to salvage whatever is of value in Ukraine, especially people, while Russia continues to avoid war and Ukraine is destroyed by its own regime.

Exactly engineer are asset to any company and not variable cost . Plant can be built like in this video in Chongqing Interesting they already built accommodation for 300 technical personnel from Ukrainian
