The fact that over a hundred J-11Bs are flying with WS-10s is proof that the engine has already pass the test for operational use in the eyes of PLAAF. No military power would accept that half of the air force jets would be down with repair at any one time. If the WS-10 is that problematic, the PLAAF would have rather continued buying the J-11A/flanker kits including the engines from Russia and by now the PLAAF would have a bunch of Russian flankers instead of the J-11Bs.

Interesting -- that said, I think we've all been teased by J-10s with WS-10 powerplants too many times over the years, and we'll all only believe it once we see production J-10s with WS-10s in the hands of regular units.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Give the man a cigar!

@SamuraiBlue

Please ... plain and simple I beg You to answer the question concerning Your claim on the WS-10. Nothing more.

I think it's very clear by now that he has nothing and wants to get away from that direction very desperately. Or maybe he's not that desperate because he's used to being this position by now as he does this to himself at least once a week.

Japanese critics are very much knowledgeable as any other critics. Just because they do not write in English for peers is not a reason you can brush them away as irrelevant.
The quality management people are the ones I listen to the most. I even heard it from people at DJI saying their products are reliable because all parts are imported from Japan. They were most critical about gears and ball bearing saying without Japanese parts their drones would not fly straight.
Since there are no such thing as military grade ball bearings or gears and they are included within almost all moving machinery they would all be affected.
Same with Chinese made car engines in which I hear many models adopts Mitsubishi engines to gain reliability.

I don't only about read them but also hear them directly from the people who actually does quality management for various manufacturers since I work in a related field.

I am sure you are one of the so called "critics". And tell us, since when did PLA begin to recruit Japanese into PLA and its weapon factories.

You are trolling and BSing.

Interesting.

still wait and see in that case, but a bit more hopeful than other previous cases. We've just had too many false calls in the past about J-10s imminently to be powered by WS-10s that we should be extra cautious now I think

Of course, I have no idea either why they've installed the WS-10 on every variant of the J-10 without switching to it either. It's definitely an interesting claim though, and supposedly there are close to 120 B/C's already, so there should be quite a few we haven't seen yet and maybe we'll all of a sudden see a squadron equipped with the WS-10? :eek:

The article is written by People's Daily, a state-controlled news organization, so of course it will say the WS-10x is good. Without a free and independent Press, we can't take such stories at face value.
That's an ad hominem fallacy. Whether a media is independent has no relevancy to the accuracy of their reports. It is a known fact that the so called "free and independent" media can be very inaccurate in their reporting.

Maybe the problem of WS-10 not being produced for J-10B lies in a thrust issue (not enough probably) and not in a pure reliability issue. Saturn was able to develop all its subsequent iterations of AL-31 since the 80's while Shenyang had to come with the first version in a rush and without a comprehensive experience in the field.
