China can choose to use WS-10 on new aircraft even if they are less reliable than AL-31. At the present time, all the new J-11Bs and J-15 and J-16 we've seen have been using WS-10. If you can find a picture that contradict this, please do so. Otherwise, you are just wasting everyone's time here.

The J-15 that landed and took off from Liaoning is still using AL - 31 ??
Is it old version of J-15 ? I haven't heard anything about it.

That's why J-15 fly with AL-31FN.

If WS-10 has that short life as the above myth claims, then China would just be producing WS-10 engines to keep a few J-11B's flying. Obviously, that isn't the case at all. The fact that J-11B is in serial production shows just how out of touch with reality your statement is.

Another thing to keep in mind is that China extends the life of Al-31 from 1000 to 1500 hrs. In other words, 1500 hrs represent the best Chinese abilities. So a more accurate number for the life of WS-10/WS-10A should be 1200-1500 hrs.


That's why J-15 fly with AL-31FN.

J-15 flies with WS-10 as well.

i do not believe those numbers, there is 4 Regiments (96 x aircraft) of J11B flying with WS10 and it would be impossible to fly them with those numbers, infact each J11B has 2 x WS10 so thats almost 200 engines so i would say these numbers are inncorrect

As here have already written, according Russian source, WS-10A have time between overhaul = 300 hour.
Представитель Центра АСТ имел на авиасалоне в Чжухае беседу с заместителем директора Шэньянского института двигателестроения, который сообщил, что в настоящее время ресурс китайского авиационного двигателя WS-10A Taihang до капитального ремонта составляет всего 300 часов.

This is also the same time that the AL-31F series 3 (Su-33).
В соответствии с действующей в настоящее время конструкторской документацией двигатели АЛ-31Ф сер.3 имеют межремонтный ресурс 300 час., назначенный ресурс 800 час.
