The Russians probably didn't expect China to be able to reverse engineer the AL-31F variants, so there probably wasn't any discussion on whether China is allowed to produce new engines "based on" AL-31F. Same thing happened with the flankers.

These are some of the info i found with a quick google search, no its no secret china's RE capabilities. I Also read somewhere that CHINA had ordered about 200 AL-31F engines, but suddenly canceled the order at about 100. I don't know how many prior order had been ...but I'm guessing not enough to cover its fleet needs

But they're not gonna do that, because it confers no advantage whatsoever. It won't stop the Russians from complaining, if they so wish to, and thus it makes no sense to limit yourself with such constraints.

lol, one of those links is my blog.

but I would say that don't just use what you see in there as supporting evidence.

As for Roger, he gets a little excited sometimes.

Has i said this just random info from a google search, the poit i was making is tha: CHINA can RE almost anything they got thiers hands on.
 and the Russians know that...
I'm not saying thats wrong or proof a of "copy-paste"industry.... in fact RE can be a extremely complicated matter, and for that only a proof of this guys advanced tech...

Going on topic: does the WS-10a or some know variant at the moment can supercruise???

I think the fanboy who made up the story didn't consider over the details like which warehouse Chinese would use to store the engines if they were going to mass produced WS-15, since J-20 is far away from the phase of mass production yet.

Wow, such long article, I use to see such "official" articles in chinese forum, I usually don't understand.
for this article, I think Liming factory cooperate with GE develop new technology for some parts of GE-90 engine, both side used each other, but GE still control their own core technology, never share to Liming.

I think it is an official website.

The article says GE and Liming developed a new method to manufacture the part, not to design it.

What I want to suggest is, if Liming was a bad-managed factory as some members here think, how on earth would GE allow Liming to manufacture parts for its engines?
