To be bonest, if i had just 1 child i will never even allow him to join the army/military for example. I dont even know how those parents who have onlh 1 child and that child joins the military, cant imagine how the parents will feel so worried in case a conflict ever happens.
So we have to also put ourselves in their shoes,and as a parent i know how that feels.

If all the families around you also only have one child, you're not going to think "I only have one child, can't let them out of my sight." You let them do what all their other only-child peers are doing. The armed forces also draws proportionally more recruits from the countryside, where only-child families are much less common.

No, thats something instinctive for any CARING PARENT, even more so when it's your ONLY CHILD. Any parent will be far more caring and doting on his only child and all their focus, energy, hard work and finances will be on that single child. It doesnt matter whether all your neighbours also have just 1 child. Since you know thats your only child, and you wont have another chance of getting another if something happens to him, especially if you are already at an advanced age. So yeah you will subconsciously spoil that child. Lol
