But every body love the underdog, by their own sheer will and sweat, they bootstrap themselves from poverty to decent live. 600 million people has been rescued from dire poverty and give the people back their dignity. So it is the triumph of human spirit over adversity that attract me to China and You don't have to be Chinese to feel it

YUP and the PRC did it with capitalism and without the nonsense of "god" and "democracy", you know institutions that are in the way of human progress. No wonder those good ole boys are getting so nervous and angry at China for not following their values and ways.:cool::D

Railway trips surge as Chinese start Spring Festival travel

China's railways reported 24.6 percent surge in passenger volume Friday, the first day of the annual travel rush when hundreds of millions of Chinese people return home to spend Spring Festival with their families.

More than 8.6 million trips were made by rail Friday, 1.71 million more than the same period last year, according to China Railway Corp.

A record 2.98 billion trips are expected during this year's "Chunyun," the name given for the travel rush around Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Up to 356 million trips are expected to be made via rail over the 40-day period, up 9.7 percent year on year.

Spring Festival falls on Jan 28 this year.

Just to clarify things for me, Other than for people working in essential industries, the general workforce and educational institutions take a 40 day break starting from the 13th Jan?
