I wonder what is going to happen with Trump after he is found guilty of miss use of charity money for his own benefit?
The electoral votes are not actually in yet and they can vote whichever they choose or cast a blank vote in which hasn't happen in history but what will happen if neither candidates reaches majority?

Will this end up in the the "What the Heck?" thread or........

Trump may even be impeached even before he is sworn into office in which case the vice president will become the executive chief in which case everything will be on the table again.
Or maybe aliens will abduct him before his term starts LOL. Good to dream...

For China long term development, a trump trade war is actually beneficial.
The people who voted trump in are blue collar and they want manufacturing jobs.
But it can't have both ways. In order to gain blue collar works, Trump will lose high tech jobs as China will ban US high tech as well as US allies high tech products in China market and have domestic ones replacing them.

Short term wise, China will lose alot of money in trade and cause unemployment but it will gain a great deal in hightech replacing US high tech products especially semiconductor, equipments, and airplanes.

Trump advisors, and the media all telling Trump not to start the trade war but those people represent the elites, upper middle class but Trump has to answer to people who voted him in, the blue collar workers.

US doesn't want China to touch Gallium Nitride as steps across the border , CFIUS shot down China's acquisition proposal of AIXTRON, Germany.

It's arms are getting longer and longer, interfering in other countries economic actiivities.

But China can bypass that by forming JV with AIXTRON locally, produce equipments in China .

I thought China is already capable to produce GaN. Isn't the latest Chinese AESA radar being GaN based?

Yes, AIXTRON is a very valuable asset, BUT it is an equipment producer which means their equipment may be more efficient to produce MANY semiconductors including GaN. Lacking AIXTRON (by China) does not hinder China so much. I would not put too much focus on AXITRON deal itself although it is something good to have. Just same as the banning Intel Pi chip did not stop China standing on the top of super computer podium for more than 3 years.

I can't say many positive things for Trump, but I'm 100% for the wall! Nations that can't control their borders are asking for trouble.
For that, don't look anywhere else. China has over 2000 years of massive wall-building and utilization expertise and over-capacity in construction, steel and concrete. Great Wall of America will be the 9th wonder on the planet.:D

There is a tendency for new China observers and even some of us old China hands to interpret any acquisition or attempt to acquire foreign tech companies by any Chinese company or entity as suggesting that that company's technology is one which China is incapable of developing itself.

In reality I think it is far more fragmented than that, with hosts of domestic developments and multiple axes of acquisitions (some of which are probably not even related to acquiring the technology for military uses anyway), and competition among domestic firms that all interact together.

So yes, you're absolutely correct, and tidalwave's post is almost implying that acquisition of that single company is somehow crucial to development of that relevant tech domain in China.

And 1000 years later, history books will teach that the Great Wall of America was built by Emperor Trump to defend against nomadic Mexican raiders.

Or maybe they'll say it was built to defend against alien invasions.

And history just repeats again since the 1970/1980 hysteria about Japan's conquest of the world. Now China is in the same place.
