It will be a hard-call in the near future for the many China and Communism haters in the west who have to stash RMB bills with Mao Zedong's portrait on them in their wallets when travel abroad, first in Asia then central Asia, western Asia, Africa. They also have to greet Mao Zedong every time they pay. Bottom line is "one can not hate their own money even denoted in RMB".

Yes, it is Chairman Mao Zedong, one of the funders of the Chinese Communist Party, founder of the PRC. Lenin's most successful follower. Stalin's comrade and staunch defender after Khrushchev took power in Kremlin.

I hope you don't have a problem using RMB with Mao looking at you, when you travel to certain (and growing) part of the world. Things change and one has to adapt.

The number keep getting bigger and bigger. It was 30 million and now 70 million after this Author and Hanjian(traitor) Chang who married British author and out of greed(getting publicity) defame China and Mao. She represent the worst character in modern China

Did you know where those number come from ?

Like anything else it was a product of cold war in 50's when every effort was undertaken to defame and dehumanize Chinese and particularly Mao as monster

Turn out those number come from US statistician extrapolating between the number of death and born in China during 50's and first announced by Marc Farguhars in Journal of Asia he is professor of Asian study that get funding from CIA

Certainly there is large number of people die due to famine, failed economic policy and exacerbate by drought that hit china during that time
But it not like Mao ordered the PLA to killed 70 million like the Japanese imperial army did
It is the product of failed policy exacerbate by drought and other natural disaster

Mao lovers obviously never live tthrough the famine and the cultural revolution.

Please ask people in their 60's and 70's what their experiences were like.

My parents didn't get much to eat during their teens even with help from oversea relatives. My mom beg her grandma for more congee but didn't get any because there simply weren't enough for the family.

The cultural revolution was an absolute reign of terror. People's corpses were hanging drom the streets, people were tortured in secret chambers, good people killed theirselves because they couldn't stand the humiliations and tortures, girls were forced (survival choice) to marry into red families because they came from "vermin" families. My dad had trouble getting into universities because my grandpa owned a small bakery.

All the things i described above came from my parents's personal experieces.

Mao was dragged into this economic thread by a hater whose eyes watered when China's RMB was included in the basket of SDR. Mao had both his good and bad points, but let us not play into the hands of the hater, who out of desperation, even invoked a past low point in Sino-Soviet relations.

Mao was a necessary evil. Mao was the lesser of two evils. You won't get the critics to admit what they did was evil. Living under Western colonial rule wouldn't have been better? They like to throw out numbers like 70 million people were "murdered" by Mao. They're including people who starved under Mao's bad planning. Is that really Mao murdering them? By that logic all the people who died under Mao is the fault of the West. Communism in China would've never had rose if it weren't for Western colonialist oppression ergo the West murdered those 70 million people... Of course they're going to choose the most extreme numbers. Like I can quote 200 million Africans died during the journey through the Middle Passage on their way to slavery in the Western hemisphere. Or how about 90 million Native Americans slaughtered? The West didn't keep count how many people they killed or died as a results of their colonialism around the world. Just by the select few examples alone it's already passed by a long shot how many people Mao "murdered."
