But Americans paying 10x (minimum) than Chinese on services means that the US economy is stronger and larger. Who needs industry when you can simply pay $10 to cut your hair instead of $1? /s
When you have basic healthcare insurance valued at 100 000$ for services that would be free in China, but nobody pays for the insurances themselves, it's all paid for on severe discount through work insurance. However the government still counts the value of the transaction as 100 000$ when they write it down for GDP.

really? it means that GDP is really nothing to do with your wealth or quality of life
its true. US also count lawyer fees in GDP.
i m not an expert in finance but China's actual GDP in nominal is 30-40 percent larger than USA if they use same method to count their GDP. China still use old method means real productivity. this is what my Chinese friend told me.
night life in China probably the largest gathering of people in the world. China don't even count that business.
