Ask them to pronounce any Chinese cities, or anything in Chinese and you'll see the beauty of their supposed expertise: A joke.
Dude, don't bash them.

They may not speak a single word of Chinese. They may have never even been to China. But they do source their China news from incredibly rigorous and reliable sources such as CNBC, New York Times, and r/China.

A primer mostly made for Western audience on the rise of China's economy. The recipe was don't listen to what that idiot Milton Friedman recommended. As for the narrator and presenter of the video, I saw and listen to her before discussing her PhD dissertation on pretty much the same topic. She's I believe of German nationality and background, she also wrote the book discussing the very same topic discussed on the video. I have the book but I have yet to read or open the page.

Fantastic video.

The Beijing Consensus can be (very) roughly summed up with the following points:
  • down-to-earth pragmatic concern with serving the people
  • constant trial and error experimentation
  • gradual reform rather than neo-liberal economic shock therapy - or as Mr Deng put it: "crossing the river by feeling the stones"
  • a strong and pro-development state
  • selective cultural borrowing of foreign ideas and methods
  • a pattern of implementing easy reforms first, difficult ones later
In other words, the CPC governs China in a practical, sensible, and effective manner.
