FX appreciation doesn't just affect export, it also reduces import prices, increases cost of debt servicing. Why use a blunt instrument when targeted therapy like removing export rebates can achieve similar results? Besides, getting rid of export rebate would force zombie companies to innovate and move up the value chain. I think we all know many Chinese firms are too comfortable with just making low end products.
Hiking the rmb by 5% per year should be a long term action that should be done anyway.

The three red lines were issued last year. Lots of changes happened from last year onward:

developers are required to ensure a liability-to-asset ratio of under 70 percent, a net gearing ratio of less than 100 percent and a cash-to-short-term debt ratio of at least one or they like Evergrande will be restricted from borrowing more money.

When it comes to reopening China from Covid, I actually stumbled upon this article:

Furtune here reports on Guangzhou papers article where Zhong Nanshan, one of China’s top epidemiologists and government advisers, said: “Why are we still employing strict measures to prevent and control the disease?” Zhong asked in an interview with Southern Weekly, a newspaper based in Guangzhou. “Our vaccination rate has not reached 80%–85% yet.”

While not a confirmation in itself, that quote could shed some light as to conditions that China desires to start changing its zero-covid policy.

China will make flexible adjustments to allow market-based coal-fired electricity prices to be raised by up to 20 percent from the benchmark, part of its efforts aimed at guaranteeing winter heat and electricity supply while several coal-producing provinces such as North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have already moved to boost the production.

This should end the energy crisis. However it will also increase industry costs which will result in inflation.

Do hill stations exist in China for tourism purposes?

Gotta say, one thing I like about ex-british colonies is the legacy of hill stations. Having tea on a cold mountain surrounded by tea plantations is simply an amazing experience

Instead of Hill Stations for British to escape heat, there are just too many resort mountains and hills in China for poets and common people for ages.
Ever heard of Huangshan, Huashan, Wudangshan, Lushan etc.
