My mom wants to build a holiday house in the Philippines, she still owns a piece of land in cebu. Maybe I should take up her offer and help her finance it.
@BlackWindMnt bro nice choice Cebu is strategically located and more cheaper to live than Manila, you can stretch you PESO more. If you live in Cebu, Boracay , Bohol , Bacolod , Iloilo and Mindanao is within reach. I always used my uncle house in Cebu city as my base to explore all those places during Hollyweek. And the food especially lechon and fresh sea food are the best. :) BRO ITS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES...lol

The problem with the Philippines from my point of view is personal safety, when it comes to foreigners.
I remember a few years ago in Angeles City, being surrounded by a group of children begging for money outside the Casino. I discovered later that my mobile phone was missing from my pocket. There are lots of desperately poor and destitute people. I guess the biggest problem is the disparity between the rich and the poor. Sorry, if I sound harsh, but that's my personal observation.

The problem I have with Thailand is the entrenched interests that lead to endemic corruption. That's another story.

@KenC bro years back if you're White they treat you like a king, now its the same with Asian, first with Japanese, then the Koreans and now the Chinese. Its all about economic power, as people gravitate to those who have the MONEYYYY..lol. Try to visit again bro as you'll see huge changes, the local people had its pride back as they develop their livelihood. Peace and order had been attained and the local gov't is not handicap anymore.

No offense bro, what you see is the legacy of the former US bases. The social problem they left behind as the local economy is geared to service those American serviceman. Now its different as Clark airport is being develop as a major clustered hub of regional development, A new North Luzon railway will be finished in 2023 connecting Central Luzon to Metro Manila therefore decongesting it. Right now if you google it Angeles City and San Fernando the adjacent town had the highest growth. In 3 years it will become a logistic hub as another rail project the Subic to Clark railway finance by China will come to operation. You will see a lot of Chinese company establishing business there. With more interaction people learn to co exist and what the Chinese are doing is the right thing.

Bro compare with Thailand you can easily feel at home and fit in cause we can communicate as English is our second language. And bro our transgender is not as beautiful as the Thai, so you will not be deceived ..lol

Thanks bro. Will revisit Philippines again when it's safe to travel. Would love to play golf and karaoke with group of friends there.
When it comes to the use of English, the Philippines definitely has advantage over Thailand. Not sure about lady boys as I'm just not predispose to them. once they started talking to me in manly voice.

@KenC bro speaking of golf its the cheapest in ASEAN, many Japanese, Koreans , Chinese and Singaporean come here just to play golf. About food its 50/50, but with many new Authentic Chinese restaurant opening here with genuine Chinese Chef, I think in varieties we're better. ;) The problem is transportation as we are an archipelagic country.:( the upside we had more beautiful beaches.

What a farce!
Isn't this what the "reforms" were supposed to prevent from happening?

China Huarong Asset Management has said it cannot estimate when it will publish its 2020 financial results
has proposed delaying its annual shareholders meeting, sparking fresh fears over the fate of the nation's biggest distressed asset manager and the risk it poses to China's financial system.

said business operations were continuing as normal
Yeah suree. Everything is definetely normal and ok. Where are the regulators???
this-is-fine.0.jpg

The China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission in April said that Huarong was maintaining ample liquidity and normal operations.
True true. We totally believe this totally impartial "regulatory commision". So why all these delays and suspensions? Where is report for the 2020 financial results, and why delay the shareholder meeting? Maybe something is not right?...

No worries, the taxpayers will be taken to the cleaners again

They should let them fall.
Yes. But the bondholders will also want to liquidate Huarong's assets in order to get back some of their money.

Is China prepared to do this, or will they just throw foreign bondholders under the bus (again)?

We heard a lot of talk and grand speeches about how China is now fully committed to reforms but when something happens....lol

They just throw foreign investors/bondholders under the bus, redistribute the assets to a "new" company and then they start again. If they really think that the foreigners are so stupid then dont be surprised if they stop investing in these companies.

Less talk, more work
