The money is flowing into speculative investments because there are no real investments to be made. It is just a giant shell game.
Facilitated by massive government money printing.

I live in australia and with wages growth not keeping up with rising inflation, plus we are in a middle of real estate bubble that will inevitably burst, i don't feel rich nor secure, however back in my home country indonesia, my $ goes a lot further and i do feel wealthy
But do you want to live in Indonesia with creeping Islamization, crowd and hours long traffic jam, not so cheap cost of living. Malaysia is maybe a better choice

Analysis: Chinese flock to home-grown brands in golden opportunity for investors

BEIJING/HONG KONG, June 28 (Reuters) – He Shuang, a student at a U.S. university stranded in her home city of Chongqing in southwest China during the pandemic, has added more than 300 domestic brands to her list of favourites on Alibaba’s (9988.HK) Taobao online mall.

Like with He, Chinese brands are hot with most shoppers and have spurred billions of dollars in investment, as consumers increasingly make patriotic choices amid a growing backlash against foreign brands in the country.

A surge in online shopping after people were forced indoors due to COVID-19 last year, a recovery in the market since then, and infrastructure that allows vendors to scale up swiftly have also propelled demand for local brands.

“Once you try, you find the quality of local products is as good as foreign products,” said the 19-year old He, who favours home-grown labels from Carslan eye shadows and Feiyue sneakers to Bestore Co (603719.SS) snacks and Miniso (MNSO.N) homeware.

Maia Active, a Sequoia Capital-backed athleisure wear maker, said its products were designed based on body measurements of Asian women and, therefore, offered local customers a better fit and more comfort than western counterparts.

Spot on, people who buy over inflated properties (often with dubious building standards) thinks the property price will keep rising indefinitely, they are in for a rude awakening

There is always risk of creeping islamization in muslim countries, malaysia is no exception, in my humble opinion, thailand is the place to be in south east asia (been there couple of times, beat singapore any day of the week)

But you are restricted in Thailand cannot buy a land, house or car, Need to renew visa every year head ache. Too much restriction. Political instability, Yeah I don't fancy Spore again too crowded. too many Angmo, expensive, no where to go on week end. Malaysia too suffer from creeping Islamization. but chinese language and culture is guarantee constitutionally. Now with rising China even more so.

If the West Papua thing flares up anymore, China will soon become Jakarta's closest allies (the Indonesians think we Americans and our Australian friends are behind every incident that happens there*).

*There doesn't have to be any fire to the smoke, the Indonesians just have to think there is.

@bajingan Bro why not try and live here in the Philippines, I've been to Malaysia but not Indonesia, the weather is much cooler here compare to both, and officially we are a Catholic nation and English is our second language, our peace and order situation had improve since Duterte had taken office. Also there is a lot of Hua Qiao here, about 65%-70% of the population had at least a certain Chinese lineage. Food and housing is cheap and the quality of life is improving and if you settled here we can hang out and party all night ....lol
