Another example of how the US is afraid of real decoupling with China. The simple answer if US companies want to avoid China's unilateral decisions if they want to do business in China is don't do business in China. Isn't that the point of decoupling? The US already puts up barriers to Chinese companies doing business in the US. It only means they're only steps closer to true decoupling like many in the US want it. That's the price to pay for doing business in China otherwise if they don't like it... get the f*ck out! That's how they avoid China's evil clutches.

There was an article by David Frum from the Atlantic I believe that said China was a paper tiger. The US is the paper tiger if their greed prevents themselves from carrying out their own goals of decoupling. They charge China is so greedy for money that they get confused why Chinese billionaire tech titans are being scrutinized by China. Then China isn't driven by money because it doesn't rule as much as in the US. But as usual Americans change the definition of words to their liking. Decoupling requires two sides to be disconnected from another. The US still wants to make money from China. They just don't want China to make money from them. They're angry as hell because they know if they truly, by the real definition of the word, decoupled from China, it'll cost them dearly. They wishfully think they're living a hundred years ago. They think they have that power and most of all they didn't have to worry about retaliation. Today they don't have that kind of power and they have to worry about retaliation directed at home. So don't mistake the reserve they've show not using the power that they abused a hundred years ago is a sign of maturity. It's fear of retaliation that holds them back.

US companies want in on China because more than ever now Trump's threats have only shown how China's economy is stronger than they believed and can even withstand an assault by the US. And the only thing they have to do is don't cause waves. It's US politicians knowing the US has been neutered that have to resort to getting US corporations to do their dirty work for them. And the only thing they think they have leverage is believing somehow the Chinese people want Americans around them and if that's taken away from them, the Chinese will revolt against the government.. The Chinese won't revolt for their own democratic freedoms but take away white people from them and that's the straw that broke the camel's back. If you want to know what path American's will go, it will be always the path that perpetuates white supremacists beliefs because that's more important to them.

They want to decouple from China thinking China would collapse without them so why are they trying to help China by spelling out the dire consequences for China to avoid for something that was their goal in the first place? No it's Australia feeling the pain because they want things to go back to normal but they have to guise it as to China's best interest so Australia doesn't lose face.

The Sri Lanka Parliament has passed the Port City Economic Commission Bill, which officially declares 269 hectares of land reclaimed from the ocean and annexed to the city of Colombo as the country's first special economic zone (SEZ) for services-oriented industries.

The bill was passed on Thursday with 149 votes in favour and 58 against, reports Xinhua news agency.

Under the legislation, a President-appointed commission will be established to govern the SEZ.

It will enable the businesses to operate in any recognized foreign currency within Port City.

After the Port City bill was tabled in Parliament on April 8, 19 petitions were filed with the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.

The Supreme Court's ruling was delivered to Parliament on Tuesday, saying that the bill could be passed with a simple majority provided key clauses be amended to confirm with the country's constitution.

Parliament debates were held on Wednesday and Thursday, following which a majority of lawmakers voted to approve the bill amended in line with recommendations by the Supreme Court.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday told Parliament that the Port City project would create 200,000 jobs in the first five years, with the majority going to Sri Lankan nationals.

He said that the Port City bill provides a competitive framework to attract investment.

Port City Colombo Director of Sales and Marketing Yamuna Jayaratne said that Sri Lanka already enjoys several advantages in the cost of doing business in comparison with established and mature services hubs such as Hong Kong and Dubai.

Colombo is planned to become a major financial and services hub in South Asia.
Seems like Sri Lanka is serious in betting on China. I have high hopes for this project to turn into another Shenzhen

don't worry about Australia. It is currently swimming on that sweet sweet Chinese cash from iron ore sales

They are actually so rich now that they created a program to give money to businesses who were affected by the Chinese sanctions Lol!!

Australia will always be fine, I dont understand why people think that the country would get poor because they got sanctioned.

Australia and Brazil control the market for high-grade iron ore so they can rest assured that they will always have cash

People worried about health hazard on consuming near expired food. I believe it's not really a problem. Food company usually play safe when determining expiry, i.e. They don't mark the expiry when the food is bad enough.
It's usually not (though for seafood and meat, you might want to season it heavily).

They used to talk about the Australian economy as a two-speed economy. The areas based on mining went on one speed, while the other areas went on a lower speed. Do not know what it is like now, as that country is far far away. The China market would been good for the lower speed economy, but that is cut off now.

In Canada, we call it the have and have-not provinces. The difference is that USA is Canada most important trading partner.

What happens in Canada, is that the have provinces, give welfare types of payments to the have-not provinces, to try to balance the provincial budgets (which they never do anyways).

How it works in Australia, could be the same, but who knows. What seems certain is an unbalance distribution of income, which creates inequality.

The streets of America tells us that inequality is a real problem in the world today.

Every time I heard them talking about "justice," I git a little nervous ...

It's clear that more action needs to be taken with respect to Australia. Here are several proposals I've thought about.

Hong Kong Travel Ban
Want to engage in a new Cold War against China? If you're not a great power, your tourists shouldn't get the privilege of visiting Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Expulsion of All Australian Journalists
Your propagandists shouldn't get the privilege of spying in Hong Kong either.

Export Bans/Export Tax
China should implement export bans on products Australia finds hard to replace.

China should also consider a 100% export tax on all goods sent to Australia. As Australia's economy is inconsequential, this shouldn't be too much of a sacrifice for Chinese exporters.

Australia can then enjoy a nice round of inflation.

Close All Australian Embassies to Prohibit Capital Flight
Why are Chinese people wasting their hard-earned money in Australia? Stop that **** now.

Prohibit Chinese Banks from Handling Australian Currency
Chinese banks should be banned from holding or processing AUD. I don't know how big an impact this will make.
