Maybe instead of big structural reforms, China needs to give universal basic income for the low-income population? Because I don't see a willingness on clapping down at local interest groups.

You see there what American paycheck for people did to consumption. Chinese consumption was in recession to October... American recession in consumption ended in June...

I dunno. Institutionalized UBI doesn't seem to mesh with traditional Chinese work culture. China instead would try to give lower income population more work opportunities, like building infrastructure.

You want to increase spending you give Chinese workers more leisure and rest time to do shopping, go to restaurants to eat, go vacation for domestic tourism.

How is China when it come to the "First mile problem" I constantly hear about the "Last mile problem"?
The first mile of getting rural goods onto transportation network for further distribution.

This is an issue that gets first priority and China uses every reason, issue or excuse to build infrastructure.

Poor people in the rural? Hire them to help build roads. That way, they get a job, they get paid, they see the product of their efforts, which raises the standard of life for their town and village, gives more value to their real estate, and gives them pride in their achievement.

DJI is now placed on the Entities List. If sales are ever banned in America, it could be devastating for the company. Are anyone else buying lots of drones besides Americans?

Isn’t entity list only restrictions on exports from US companies to Chinese companies?

Hikvision is totally fine with all the sanctions.

nvm DJI uses Intel or Arm CPUs, so that’s an issue, also google app

A sales ban is highly possible based on so called “data security and national security” reasons.

Not much of a big difference, especially considering China controlled Covid months ago. China's economy has done better overall this year but retail sales it has done about the same as the US. Considering China's lower per capita base it's really unimpressive. Xi is doing the right thing here by focusing on raising demand.

Well China retail sales is impressive I would say they done it without printing money whereas in US they dole out check to support consumption in form of unemployment check and freebies. Chinese support go toward building infrastructure that will support economic expansion in the future

If Biden does not reverse the entity list, then US is essentially trying to deny Chinese semiconductor technology.

That’s like an oil blockade.

Will have to go into war mode for the next 10 years. Full mobilization into the task like H bomb development
