the problem is that those who are buried are unlikely to survive after 3 days without water. Therefore, we have reached a point where the survival rate for them is very slim, and in a few more days, the confirmed death toll will jump (probably to more than 50k)because of all the buried will be confirmed dead.

True, but it's important to still keep at it, for even achieving a slim chance of surviving is better than having none at all.

The length of survival without food and water is highly dependent on the environmental conditions. If you were locked in a room at room temperature without water, you could possible survive for up to a week. But if you were crushed under debris, freezing at night, emotionally stressed, etc., you may die within the first 48 hours.

A few of the lucky trapped victims will have access to food and water, which may enable them to survive up to 14 days. There are also recorded incidents where infants were rescued after 6-8 days.

It just occurred to me that, other than "duck and cover", my school really didn't teach me anything about earthquake entrapment survival. >_<

On may 31 2008 a Mi-171 chopper crashed in Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province

After 2 days PLA has not found the crashed helicopter.:(
But have the planes and helicopters no emergency beacon ?? :confused:
