Rescue teams have arrived in Pingyuan county, East China's Shandong province after an earthquake on Sunday morning.



After the quake, the Dezhou fire and rescue detachment sent 15 vehicles and 107 people to the epicenter. [Photo provided by Sun Geng/For chinadaily.com.cn]

Jinan, Tai'an, Liaocheng, Dezhou and Binzhou have assembled 24 vehicles, 236 fire rescue personnel and a search dog detachment.

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in Pingyuan county of Dezhou, Shandong province, at 2:33 am on Sunday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter was monitored at 37.16 degrees north latitude and 116.34 degrees east longitude with a depth of 10 kilometers.

As of 7 am, a total of 126 houses collapsed in the county and 20 people suffered minor injuries, according to the Shandong Provincial Department of Emergency Management.

To avoid the summer heat, tourists have flocked to Xijiang Qianhu Miao village in Leishan county, Guizhou province.

To improve visitors' experience, the local government has enhanced the service level of staff and practitioners, and improved sanitation in the scenic area.

By the end of June, the village had welcomed 1.866 million visitors.

China's nighttime economy is flourishing in major cities like Suzhou, Nanjing and Shanghai, which are bustling with tourists over the weekend.

Guanqian street in Suzhou sparkled with lights, attracting visitors to its markets and diverse cuisine. In Nanjing, tourists flocked to Fuzimiao, or the Confucius Temple scenic area by the Qinhuai River, while Shanghai's Nanjing Road pedestrian street remained crowded despite scorching weather.

As this round of typhoon-induced torrential rains have come to an end in Beijing, some villagers of Fangshan district, who had been evacuated to settlement sites due to heavy rainfall over the previous few days, returned home on Saturday after experts assessed the safety of their residences.

Beijing has, over the past few days, seen the heaviest rainfall since records began 140 years ago.

The new building of the Sanxingdui Museum in Southwest China's Sichuan province started trial operation on Thursday, with nearly 600 relics unearthed from the renowned Sanxingdui Ruins displayed to the public for the first time.

Located beside the old museum building, the new facility has a total construction area of 54,400 square meters, five times that of the old one.







A total of more than 1,500 pieces or sets of relics, including pottery, bronze, jade and gold wares are showcased in the new building, which has an exhibition area of 22,000 square meters. Among the highlights are a nearly 4-meter-high sacred bronze tree, golden masks, and bronze standing figurines, all dating back around 3,000 years.
