China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, edged up 0.7 percent year on year in February, reversing a 0.8-percent decline in January, official data showed Saturday.

Hebei Museum in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province was recently selected as one of the top 5 most liked museums by netizens, with a 195 percent increase in followers for its account on the Douyin video-sharing platform, according to the museum.

Throughout the year, the account gained more than 36,000 new followers, and videos featuring relics such as the "Jade Burial Suit Sewn with Gold Thread" and the "Chang Xin Palace Lamp" were listed in the top 10 most viewed cultural relic videos of the year, according to a recent report by Douyin and China Cultural Relics News, as cited by the museum.

Silian Hair Salon, a time-honored barber shop in Beijing's Wangfujing area, opened its door two hours earlier than normal on Monday to accommodate more customers and provided free haircuts to sanitation workers in celebration of the Dragon-Head-Raising Festival.



Dragon-Head-Raising Festival, or the traditional Chinese Longtaitou Festival, falls on the second day of the second lunar month every year, and recognizes the start of spring and farming. This year it falls on March 11.



The festival celebrates ancient agrarian Chinese culture, and while some of traditional ways to celebrate it are no longer practiced, others persist.

The most famous tradition is getting a haircut. Some believe that going to the barber on this day gets rid of bad luck.

Flowers such as tulips and rapeseed are blooming across China, attracting a large number of tourists looking to enjoy the early spring scenery.



Among these, Taiziwan Park in Hangzhou city of Zhejiang province hosts an annual tulip flower exhibition from March 8 to April 14, becoming a major attraction for locals and tourists. This year, the event imported 400,000 tulip bulbs, covering a planting area of 8,000 square meters.[PHOTO VCG]

In Chongqing's Tongnan district, 20,000 hectares of rapeseed flowers are in bloom. Recognized in 2022 as a national-level rapeseed breeding area, Tongnan leverages its rapeseed flower economy to boost farmers' income and rural revitalization through integrated agriculture and tourism.

BEIJING -- China stepped up its greening efforts last year with 3.998 million hectares of forest planted, official data showed Tuesday.

The figure was higher than the 3.83 million hectares of afforestation seen in 2022, according to a report of the National Greening Commission. In 2023, the country also restored 4.379 million hectares of degraded grassland and treated 1.905 million hectares of sandy and stony land.

China on Tuesday celebrates its 46th National Tree Planting Day.
