Night classes were very popular in China in the 1980s, when many young people sought to learn new skills to make a living.

Today, these classes are gaining popularity again among China's younger generations, meeting their needs for an enriched lifestyle.

In late November, a night school for young people was launched by the Wuhan municipal committee of the Communist Youth League of China in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, and soon won youngsters' hearts, with all nine courses set in the first phase fully applied for.

Now the night school classes are available all around Wuhan, serving more than 3,000 attendees with a variety of courses, such as calligraphy, Chinese painting, yoga, baking, latte art, jazz dance, ukulele and the like [Photos/Xinhua] .

BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisory body, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, opened its annual session on Monday in Beijing.

Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders attended the opening meeting of the second session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, held at the Great Hall of the People.





At the meeting, the agenda for the session was reviewed and approved.

Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a work report of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee to the session.

A three-dimensional nanoscale optical disk memory with petabit capacity has been developed at the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, according to an article published on Feb. 22 in Nature.

The research team managed to increase the capacity of optical data storage to the petabit level by extending the planar recording architecture to three dimensions with hundreds of layers, while also breaking the optical diffraction limit barrier of the recorded spots. The minimum spot size and lateral track pitch are 54 nm and 70 nm, respectively.

The team developed an optical recording medium based on a photoresist film doped with aggregation-induced emission dye, which can be optically stimulated by femtosecond laser beams.

Important cultural relics from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) have grabbed visitors' attention since they were unveiled last month at the Zunyi Municipal Museum in Zunyi of Guizhou province.

Tusi refers to local minority chieftains during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties (from the 13th century to the 20th century). Imperial officials governed remote areas and borderlands for hundreds of years via such hereditary leaders. Guizhou has abundant Tusi sites and relics.

The exhibition showcases 44 cultural relics, 41 replicas and 49 historical documents and archaeological monographs. It is free for the public and will last until Dec 30 this year.
