Local authorities in Hubei province are racing against time to alleviate the difficulties in travel due to heavy snow battling most parts of the province since Friday night.
According to Wuhan Meteorological Center, Qianjiang, Yingcheng and Xiaogan cities in Hubei have recorded 18 centimeters of snow as of 8 am on Sunday. The province is expected to have icy rain and snow for the next three days, with strong winds and freezing temperatures, according to the center.
The Wuhan Public Security Bureau has asked police officers to take all efforts to ensure people's safety and maintain the traffic order amid heavy snow and severe freezing weather.
More than 900 patrol units, 54 police stations, and 12 SWAT patrol units are patrolling and all traffic police in the city have been on duty to remove snow and maintain the normal operation of major streets, bridges, train stations and airport in the city.
